Hey guys. I was wondering what would happen to the boobs if a woman starts bench pressing. Do they get smaller? look bigger? look like 2 lumps of fat on a manly chest?

Mine have improved. I dropped a lot of weight from my chest and things weren't as perky as they used to be. Since lifting heavier in the new year, things have definitely cheered up

Unsure as to what will happen long term.

Two lumps of fat on a manly chest. Quick! Run, don't walk away from those heavy weights! You'll turn into a maaaannnnnn, baby!

    /sarcasm

Seriously? As a woman, you don't have enough testosterone to ever develop a "manly" chest.

no/no/depends on if your chest looks "manly" to begin with, I suppose.

I've never found it to do much of anything more than give me a little more lift. I had a friend who could put on some pretty good bulk but even then it's not like it magically appears, after lifting for a while if you notice you are developing more muscle than you want, it is pretty easy to back down.

    Lift, it's good for you!

This is incorrect. Only if the woman is taking steroids will she get bulky.

My delts and triceps are bigger now than they used to be before I started training. not in a manly way though, but they're still bigger. it's called adding mass. if u bench press heavy weight it is natural to add mass to your chest

bigger is not bulky. women don't have enough testosterone to bulk like men do. if you're unhappy with the current size of your muscles, then you should probably just back off weightlifting or do low weights/high reps.

I have been lifting since my body and weight loss transformation started. I can say that my boobs are awesomely perky vs. when they were big and used to hang lol.

I am proud of what my body can do (for all of you wondering my max on bench right now is 130lbs) and I am proud on not needing much help in the bra department to keep my girls nice and at attention!

Jesus the op didn't say a woman would become bulky lifting weights she just stated that it is literally possible for a woman to follow a bulking plan, which is 'slang' for gaining weight. There is enough testosterone and other hormones in a womans body to allow that to happen even if they won't become arnie over night. Some people have taken this 'defend lifting to women' thing waaaay too far.

I've never had big breasts. They haven't gotten bigger or smaller. However my sternum and pectorals are more defined which I think pretty.

They'll get perkier. That's about it. Women don't "bulk up" on accident.

You're not "bulking". Your muscles may be changing, making the layer of bodyfat over them more prominent, giving those muscles a "bulkier" appearance. Women don't bulk without serious hormonal intervention.

    Thanks ladies.

But yes, women can go on "bulking" phases, where we purposely try to gain muscle. I did one last year. I gained 10lbs. Some of that was fat, some was muscle. I ate about 3000 calories a day and worked out 4-5 days a week on a specific hypertrophy (muscle size building) program. So yeah, I "bulked" but not on accident and not to body builder levels, obviously.
  • i work bench press into my routine every week on chest day..

unless you go to extremely low BF, your boobs aren't going any where.

Don't be afraid to bench press! will add some dice definition to your shoulders too!

There is no reason not to do it, if you've never done it. A little muscle is always a good thing. And as others said, if you get to a point that you feel happy with, you can always choose to maintain it at that point or take a step back if you prefer. This applies to anything you do with fitness or weights. No way to know what we like and prefer without giving it all a fair try first.

When I was in my teens and early twenties I was working as a fashion model. I have always done a lot of weight training. At some point, my agency in Paris started to complain that my tits were looking like two steaks.

I've lost a cup size in the last year but stayed the same weight. I attribute that to body recomposition an unfortunately, boobs are fat, and yes, I did lose some.
