When you lose weight but don't feel any smaller..

When people lose weight aren't they suppose to have more energy and feel better about themselves????

I have lost 10 lbs over the past 9 months (not trying as hard as I should, lol) and still have a good 8 lbs to go. I just finally got under the 130 mark and feel great that I made it this far, but I still feel just as big as I did 10 lbs ago.... In the measurements I can tell that I'm getting smaller but I just don't see it. I want to work out more but with recently being diagnosed with Narcolepsy it's practically impossible because I feel tired ALL the time, the only good thing is that the medication curbs my appetite and leaves me drinking tons of water!

I have done a bit of a test on myself over the past week and there are days when I really just can't eat because my body is not hungry and those are the days that my stomach is flat (excluding the dun-lap of extra skin, lol) but as soon as I put something into my body other than water my stomach bloats up and I look like I'm 6 months pregnant...anyone have any clue what this is about? It honestly doesn't mater what I eat, it does it every time...

So HERE I AM 8lbs to go, hoping to lose it by the end of May, but it wont make a difference if I don't feel that weight loss......

ANY ADVICE???

Edited: I totally missed part of your post first read, sorry. :blushing: For me, a lot of that feeling was exercise related... maybe talk to your doctor about safer activities for you. I found that I look better even heavier if I am working out -- it's also helped most of my tummy issues.
  • Not sure why but with 12 lbs gone and 11.25 inches I also don't feel like much smaller. I keep hoping that at some point my brain will catch up. I am not quite 1/2 way to goal so I still have more to loose.

Slightly too small goal clothing is great for that when you feel the mirror isn't really showing you progress.

As far as your bloating, that is not normal. You'll want to speak with your doctor or a specialist (endicronologist I think?) about that and get your thyroid checked. I had the exact same condition years ago (didn't want to eat because of excessive, uncomfortable bloating, even from water) and it was a symptom of my eating disorder at the time :(
  • Those are the days you have to dig in and really work for it. I know it sounds cliche, but those days I feel I can't push, I just think to myself -make it out the front door. make it to the end of the road. make it to the beach. set little goals on those days & exceed them. Im sorry to hear about your narcolepsy, I really think if you push on those days you think you can't because you havent slept or are exhausted, you'll thank yourself. Some exercise and movements better than none at all and once you get going you have an easier time keeping going. Good luck to you & the very best of wishes. its an uphill battle everyday! Love S
