How do you prevent boredom?

Now that my life is not all consumed with eating (pun fully intended), I find myself quite bored now. I'm also usually awake later into the night now because I need less sleep. I am now getting regular physical activity too but don't want to overdo it early on. What do you do to combat the boredom? Normally, this would be an eating trigger point ....

I joined a senior softball team. They are very supportive. I pass on the beer and pizza.0

Books, internet, Netflix, TV shows, HBO on Demand, volunteering for a non-profit, playing outside with the kiddos, gardening, napping. I have A.D.D. so it's hard for me to stay bored for long. I always think of something.0

Do have any hobbies? Sports, music, writing, reading, shopping. I know how hard it is to distract yourself from food, but try to focus on anything else.0

I harass my friends on mfp with a zillion pointless posts. A few of them are kind enough to indulge me in random conversation.0

The sum of our lives: associations (acquaintances, co-workers, buddies, friends, life partner(s)), knowledge & skills (formal education, abilities, training, talents), legacy (children).
Do something in this category. My personal favorite is skill.

New recipes! I downloaded an app called Spark Recipes. It has healthy recipes and lists all nutrition facts. You can use the search bar to find what you specifically want and save the ones you like in favorites to pull up at will!0

Maybe you could take up knitting. I'm just kidding! I'll do the knitting. Go for a walk! You don't have to worry about overdoing it by walking too much. It's best to find something to do that takes you away from food. I find that if I'm watching a movie or reading, then I want to eat, so I try to get out there and move, even if it is just walking or even biking. Just an idea.0

If I feel I am about to indulge on something, which is hard cause we don't have much at our house, I drink water..if I want to steer clear of boredom I go for a walk with the boys. Movies are fun. I take pics, being a photographer that helps me! Haha, then edit them. Pinterest is AMAZING! So many idea's for around the home, a lot of DIY idea's, recipes, motivation & funny stuff...I just LOVE Pinterest!0

These days I'm always looking for ways to better my lifting routine/mix it up to prevent boredom and slowly working my way towards olympic style lifting and incorporating more and more of those types moves into my weekly workouts.
You gotta have a goal beyond some generic "I want to lose weight/get in shape".
Usually if your goal is fitness related, the getting in shape takes care of itself along the way, and the eating will follow because you will find that you have to eat/drink properly to fuel your workouts (words I'd never thought I'd ever type or say, ever as applicable to myself  ).
Currently I also want to a) do a proper pushup and b) do a proper pull-up at some point in my life. Also something I'd never thought I'd say, ever.
Good luck! Find the thing you love and do it.0 -
Taking care of horses, hauling hay, feeding ducks, collecting eggs, reading, designing, drawing, cooking, beadwork, doing gourd art, planning the new duckhouse, starting seeds, watching "Project Runway" and "Face Off", exercising on the elliptical machine, doing weight training, reading, cleaning stalls, hauling sawdust, feeding dogs, loading and unloading the truck, delivering duck eggs, catering lunch for friends, hauling and stacking firewood, feeding the furnace round the clock, posting my food and exercise diary, ....bored? Who has time to be bored?0

Hobbies, my friend. The key to keeping boredom at bay is to be occupied with things that interest you, avoiding those that mean you just have to eat. Anything from hiking to stamp collection, and everything in between. Try to get out with friends more for play time that does not center around food and drinks. Spend time outside as often as you can. Learn to draw or paint. Try beading or weaving, woodcarving or building small furniture. Anything that engages your interest and keeps the urge to snack or pilfer under control. As Nike said, "Just do it". Good luck.0

Netflix and reading are often my go-to non-exercise activities, but recently I started making chainmail with my husband and we're planning to take a chivalrous swordhandling class.0

I was so bored I got up a few times to get chocolate but then sat back down frustrated. In the end I grabbed my pencils and sketchbook and have been drawing for about 2 hours and it's stopped me eating! Guess it works if you enjoy drawing though haha.0
