    Zegrid (allergies)
Atenolol (high blood pressure, although I am at the lowest dose). I have high blood pressure from damage done to my heart by starving myself for years trying to lose weight. The damage is permanent but can be controlled.

I also take Iron and B12 supplements. I am deficient in both and struggle with anemia.

I used to take 10 meds a day including meds for high blood pressure, arthritis, depression, insomnia, vitamins, fish oil, etc. After losing about 100 (still going) I am down to the following:

    1 baby aspirin a day
1/4 of what I used to take for high blood pressure (doc thinks after another 20 lbs probably off it all together)
ibuprofen as needed for arthritis (used to take 2x daily zipsor)

    No vitamins or any supplements.

My doctor was worried about the no vitamins or supplements so had a complete panel done including vitamin D, etc. and everything came in normal range. And my HDL is actually higher (63) since switching from fish oil pills to actually eating fish daily (salmon - wild alaska only, sardines, tuna, makeral). Rest of cholesterol numbers are all in optimal ranges too.

It is amazing what eating clean can do for the body!

Please note: This is what works for me, everybody is different!

Out of curiosity, why do you think it's "eating clean" and not the fact that you lost 100 lbs?

Sorry, I know "clean" can be a loaded word. For me clean eating is nothing processed and this includes pasta, bread, canned, boxed as well as doing my best to eliminate added sugar. I eat fresh fruits (no more than one serving a day), lots of vegetables mostly green with other colors mixed in, proteins with fish first, turkey and chicken 1-2x a week and red meat (beef and pork) maybe once every week or two. I do make my own yogurt and granola to eliminate any extra sugar and my own salad dressing to help eliminate extra sodium. I do also eat nuts and seeds and beans. And on very rare occasions I will have dessert like cake or pie but I tend to stay away from that as it triggers sugar cravings.

I think for me it has been a combination 3 things for me and in this order:

    1. Eating clean as I define it above
    2. Exercise (weight lifting 3x a week and cardio of some sort every day).
    3. Get a good nights sleep every night (I go to bed and wake up the same time every day even on weekends). I use a CPAP machine as I used to snore due to weight but will be going to have that evaluated this summer again.

I used to view losing the weight loss (and there is no argument that that is a big factor) as the goal, but now I see losing the weight as a benefit (or even side effect) of doing those three things I listed. Do I count calories yes...learning about the foods I was putting in my body and how many calories attached to those food was a big part of the learning process I went through to define my "eating clean" for me. Also I think my "eating clean" has had a direct effect on my cholesterol numbers. I realize these number can get better when losing weight but I think If I where to lose all my weight by just counting calories and consuming only sugary food (just an example) I would not be seeing these same number.
