HRM.. I just want simple features, I want to know my average and max heart rate during my workout and around how many calories I burned. My Polar FT40 was under $90 brand new compared to prices I saw for FitBit which were higher. Fitbit Flex battery life is much shorter, I would have to charge every 5-7 days if I owned one. HRM and transmitter batteries need to be replaced every year.

I think monitoring the rest of the day brinks on the point of obsessive complusive.. Also Fitbit Flex doesn't sync with all Android devices which would be important to me if I was looking to buy. FitBit Flex is fairly new from my understanding where as other HRM companies are well known in the industry for a long time and offer an extended 2 year warranty.

    Just my two cents.

I think it depends how varied your general activity is each day, and if you think a Fotbit will motivate you to do more. Look at the Bodymedia Fit too

I have the Bodyfit media which I think is like the Fitbit flex. It gives a lot of information besides jsut heart rate. I love it! I also like not having a chest strap on.

BMF is more accurate than the Fitbit Flex.

The Ft40 is 165.00 in Canada, cheapest on Amazon.ca (I notices it's 105 on the .com version of the site) The FitBit is only 99.00

I love being in Canada... ugh. This happens ALL. THE. TIME.

    And in the UK
  • I have a Polar FT7 which I paid about £60 for on Amazon and I love it! I'm pretty sedentary during the day so a FitBit wouldn't really meet my needs.

When I do workouts at the gym I want to know exactly what I am burning in terms of calories and how much of that workout was fat burning vs Fitness and the Polar does that for me.

I also do kettlebell workouts at home so again use the Polar then, I almost got a FitBit but I thought I would be more likely to lose it as it clips onto your clothing rather than being able to wear as a watch / chest strap.

I think FitBit are bringing out a band type thing soon though.

I'm happy with my purchase though. Makes me get the most out of my workouts

has this been tested? especially considering the Fitbit Flex won't be released until May
