Hip labral tear and bone cyst

Recently learned that I have a labral tear and a cyst in the bone structure of the hip (diagnosed by contrast MRI). Yeah, I know, every medical situation is different, but have any of you experienced this? What was your treatment? Recovery time?
(And no, I'm not relying on the MFP forums instead of a medical professional. My ortho appt is this Friday.)

Lots of hip stability work. You can google the condition and get some specific ideas. It can be tricky to work some of the deep rotators, but you can find exercises.
The location of the actual tear will affect what you can do. From research I have done, there isn't much that can be done to heal or repair tear--you just have to strengthen every thing around it. I have worked with a woman for a couple of years who had the same thing. Her progress was really slow because she has no balance--if you saw her doing our balance exercises you'd swear she just started them two weeks ago, not two years. But she has made improvement and regularly does 250-280lbs on a leg press.0 -
I know this is an old thread - but I'm wondering, how things worked out for you? I've been struggling a couple of years with tons of pain. Finally found a doc to do some imaging. My first MRI showed some changes, so we tried an injection into the hip bursa. Took away the secondary pain that developed as a result of the initial problem, but still have the incredible hip pain. Its getting worse and worse. My second MRI is next week, this time they are injecting the joint with dye. My sports med physician is pretty confident its a labral tear, however he said I can get surgery for it. Just wondering if you found any resolution??0

Mine resolved (mostly) on its own. Ortho's opinion was that the labral tear was not the cause of my pain, I've probably had that for years, and that my pain was just from a strained muscle. He suggested some kind of platelet reinjection thing (that I can't remember the exact name of) but I opted to just give it more time which seems to have worked.
So it sounds like your situation is different. Good luck on finding resolution for it.0
