Hey guys, wondering if anyone can give me some advice and possibly point me in the right direction.
I've had 2 different accounts on MFP and I've been around for about 2-3 years now, roughly. I've lost about 46 lbs which I consider to be a good amount.
I've asked this a few times to my friends list and 1 time on here 1 year or so ago.
I can't lose weight. As weird as this sounds coming from someone who has currently lose 46lbs, I can not lose weight. By that statement i mean - I can not lose weight any more. In my 2-3 years here it has been a great struggle to lose any significant amount of weight. here is my story summarised: When i started i lose a good 10-15 lbs (not sure on exact number), most of which I am convinced was water weight. Over the course of the next 2 years i "only" managed to lose a further 20-25 lbs. It has been in the last month or 2 I have managed to lose my latest 10-15 lbs... And here is how:
Juicing.
That is the only way I can lose weight. If I juice my 3 main meals of the day and then have maybe 1 or 2 snack juices if i am not full...I will lose weight. In fact, my first week of juicing i lost 11lbs and my second week I lost 6 lbs. If i eat "normal" food...Say I have fruit for breakfast or a nice bowl of muesli which is low in salt, sugar, carbs, etc. I have a sandwich/fruit for lunch and a normal dinner...Such as a chicken breast with some brown rice or vegetables or home-made curry or chilli, etc. I gain weight. I gain weight for the entire week and then i spend the following week struggling in trying to get rid of whatever number it was i gained.
Some of you will blame this on juicing and saying not eating and then eating food will only make you gain weight again. This could not be further from the truth for me...As I have struggled with this for the past 2 years whenever I really knuckle down and focus on weight loss with trying to eat normal and not seclude myself from things such as going out to a meal with friends and picking a 400 calorie dinner. If i eat solid foods > I gain weight. Whether it be chicken, beef, lamb, fish, vegetables, 1 small 50 calorie chocolate, etc.
All i am asking for is some advice. If anyone else has gone through this > Please let me know how you managed to get past it because at the moment i am really struggling.
IF you want to know anything about me - I am Male, 20 years old and I am 5' 8.

ALSO:
It is not anything to do with a sodium intake. I hate salt. I can not stand the taste of salt and I never have been able to. I don't drink ANY fizzy drinks at all, the give me horrific heart burn and i've not drank them in years.
It is not alcohol, I have drank alcohol on this weight loss journey and I have stopped drinking alcohol for 1 entire year - Lead to no difference at all.0 -

So as a point of curiosity - when you eat solid food - do you, you know "go"?
I might recommend seeing a gastro and making sure everything is working properly in the gut area, as if you can only lose weight on a liquid diet, I'd be concerned that might mean something isn't.0 -

Hey i'm not embarrassed about these types of questions but since you asked; Here is the funny thing.
When i drank the juices for 1 week at a time - I went maybe once..Or twice..The entire week. When i eat solid food it's once per day,0 -
I hit a plateau a while back while struggling to loose my last 10 lbs to my goal.
What did I do? Intensified my work outs. First an extra 10 Minutes of cardio- then a few weeks later added 50 squats to the end of my work out- if you can reach your max heart rate at the end of your work out- you can keep your hr up for longer after your work out is finished- the more calories you will continue to burn when your work out is over.0 -

I do about 100-150 Squats per day as well as lunges, push ups, sit ups, crunches and a 20-30 minute walk. I should have said this in my first post i guess :P0 -

What is your calorie intake? Have you tried cutting your calories by about 10% for a period of time? I'm not sure what you are juicing but if your calories are particularly low because you are juicing mostly low calorie foods then it would explain weight loss.
Also, if you GI tract is emptier, you will weigh less than when you have food in your intestines.
If you have already tried cutting your calories, you exercise (which you said you did), and are carefully tracking everything you eat, you should probably see a doctor.0 -
1. You may be working our too much.
2. What is your bmi?
3. The weight you may not be able to lose may be muscle you have added since you work out daily.0 -

My BMI was 26.78 last time i checked. Just over..The overweight part of the scale for my weight. (I Don't even go by BMI anyway since its false, BF% is more accurate)
This has been going on for 2 years. This is not a exercising problem. If it was I would have exercised and seen a weight loss by now.0 -

My calories can be anywhere from 700 - 1,600. It depends. I eat when I am an hungry and no more.0 -
You could cut back on your sugar intake. That way your body burns the fat stored instead of the sugar. There is something online that says cutting certain fruit out helps.
Sometimes eating brown rice can actually cause you to gain weight. That's was one of my problems. Everybody's body is different so it could be it.
Could just be water weight. drinking lots and lots of water could help.
There's a lot of other factors but its all trial and error. I don't know what you eat or how hard you workout. So yeah. My two cents lol0 -
I suggest looking up In Place Of A Road Map on MFP, that should help you get back into loosing weight .0

OP there is a group on here called Eat. Train. Progress. The moderators are very helpful, but they ask you to provide specific information so they can get an accurate account of what you've been doing (or not doing).
It may be the place for you to get some answers you are looking for:

You've damaged your metabolism by eating so little which is why your body is holding onto anything you give it. You'll have to reset your metabolism and go from there. You should be able to search some threads on here or google about it. See here to know how much you should have been eating.

You can repair it but it's going to take time and patience and this is why low calorie diets are bad let alone all the other reasons. Hope it is all ok again for you soon.0 -
