What am I doing wrong?

I am 20 years old and 215 pounds. I am trying to lose at least 50 pounds. The last 3 weeks I have been working my butt off. I am in the gym twice a day some days, and I am also doing Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 about 2 or 3 times a week in the mornings. I would rather be in the gym. My diet is only about 1200-1300 calories a day and it's healthy food. I love my veggies and fruits and I cook all of my meals. I HAVE NOT LOST ANY WEIGHT! I started at 220 in February when I got my gym membership. It wasn't until March that I stepped my game up in the gym and started working harder. My weigh days are Wednesdays. One week I was down to 210 (weighing myself in the mornings before eating), and now I am back to 215 and not going anywhere. Please help!

That's a lot of gym time...and are you doing JM workout on the same days that you go to the gym? And are you eating back exercise cals and netting 1200-1300 a day, or just 12-1300 total cals?
Sounds like you might be over training and under eating, but hard to say for sure without seeing your diary....0 -
Well I can't be in the gym very long at a time because I take care of my grandma at home. So I am only going 30-45 minutes at a time. Sometimes I do the JM workout on the same day as the gym. I am trying to burn at least 500 cals a day. I do not eat back my exercise calories, is that the problem?0

I'd have to get a feel for your stats beyond just weight (ie without height), but 1200-1300 cals sounds too low right off the bat. You don't need to starve to lose weight. We also don't know what types of foods are getting you to the 1200 or 1300 mark.0

It does sound like you are not getting enough calories, can you open your diary so we can take a look? How many calories does MFP want you to eat?0
-
My diary is now open. I signed up on MFP and when I did it on my phone it did not give me the option to have MFP to calculate my calories so I just did 1200 calories. But now that I can actually look it up it says 1530. So if I eat 1530 calories a day, and burn 500, do I eat those calories back?0

Here's what I would do assuming your a 20 y/o female at 215 lbs of average height and you have no current health issues. NET 1500 calories a day (don't worry so much about what, clean calories are better in the long run) Customize your goals to be 40/30/30. Only go to the gym one time a day for 30 - 45 minutes of weight training 3-4 days a week. You can do JM's at home, but at least 4-5 hours before or after your gym workout. Take one rest day for your body to recover. That's it. Bust your butt at the gym, Eat 1500 NET calories and get your butt moving with JM's. In 8 months, you'll be a closer to your goal and much happier. Plus you'll sleep better.0

Funny how we posted at the same time and I didn't even have a chance to read the above and my advice was 1500 cal. Yes eat back your exercise cals or at least half of them.0 -
They say you should eat back your exercise calories. I don't always, but I am happy to have them when I have higher calorie situations. I am losing weight, maybe I would lose faster if I did eat them all back, but I'm ok with a slow steady loss.0

Okay I get it now! So the fact that I am eating my calories back, I will still lose weight no matter what?! Sometimes these things are so confusing! But I am determined (:0

yes you will still lose. MFP sets you up with a deficit to lose the weight you want without exercising. IF you workout you are creating an even larger deficit, so you'll want to eat some if not all of those calories back... ESPECIALLY since you're only eating 1200ish cals a day to begin with.

Yes, because from what you said you are eating about 1300 calories a day and exercising about 500. That gives you a net of 800 calories a day. If that is the case EVERYDAY, then your body is starving (whether you notice right away or not) and is storing everything you eat for later meaning you will not lose any fat. I would NET 1300 or even 1500 as others have suggested. If you eat 2000 and exercise off 500 and net 1500 everyday, you will lose faster and in a more healthy way than if you ate 1300 calories a day and did not exercise. Crazy, huh? Keep going!0 -
Measure yourself and also take a look at In Place Of A Road Map on MFP, gets you set up greatly on were you Body Fat is your BMR and TDEE. I know when my scale wasn't moving my measurements were dropping like crazy0

You're trying for quick results, that doesn't work. Obviously... Set your calories up correctly.
