Clean healthy eating

Looking for some great meal ideas for my family. I am going to try hard to focus on healthy clean eating and watching what I put into my body. I have a family that consists of me, my fiance who works really hard at work all day and needs a good meal and my 5 year old daughter. Anyone have any good recipes and maybe even some pre preparation meals/lunches I can stick in the freezer or something.

I don't believe in calling it "clean" eating, but Tosca Reno has a few books with her plans and recipes. They have her books at the grocery store, target etc...

Thank you. What do you like to call it? Just curious?

I just say that I eat whole foods. I do eat things like cheese and yogurt. But For some reason the "clean" description seems awkward. I guess because I always think of of the unseen pesticides and such on out food. It's a shame organic isn't more affordable. I will say, after I established a whole foods regimen, I saw many positive changes in my body and general sense of well being. At first it felt a little bad, like I was having withdrawal or something from the junk I had been eating. But the second week was much better than the first.

I really like the website 100daysofrealfood.com. Her tomato soup is to die for! Plus she has all kinds of tips to keep things ready and accessible and make them as easy as possible.

Thanks for sharing that. I'm going to check it out. I also meant to say, I have a book called "Vegetables every day". It's also good for ideas.

You can go to the clean eating magazine website and they have all kinds of recipes. Another good site is Eating Well; it's very good! Check it out!
  • For myself I've eaten Boca veggie burgers, boiled spinach, and one egg.
Have you tried using Egglant to substitute some things too?
I've made eggplant meatball (cut eggplant into cubes, heat on stove until soft, mix with egg and breadcrumbs, add seasoning, shape into balls and bake for 30-40 minutes on 400 degrees)
and baked an eggplant with couscous, spinach, paprika/ crushed red pepper and spinach.
Breakfast I go between eating, Plain Oatmeal, or banana, soymilk, and special K.
I use wraps instead of white bread. Bagels and fat-free cream cheese, peanut butter and banana.
I drink water with my meals, green tea also curbs appetite.
Oh thin bagels, fat free cream cheese, alfafa sprouts and cucumbers! :)

To be honest, I don't cook for a family! These are the foods I eat myself, I hope I helped. I'm not sure if your little one will like eggplant, If you plan on making dinner for the entire family. Have you tried making some food for yourself and a different meal for your husband and child? ---also, You're doing a good job on losing weight, and meals, It all depends on what you like and what's healthy for you :] Good luck!

Here is what helps me. On Sunday, or whatever day I go to grocery, I chop sweet potatoes and butternut squash into fries, putting the quantity I would need for 1 meal in a zip lock with Olive Oil and Everglades seasoning, I also do this with my veggies that I will be roasting that week, the bags seem to keep the veggies fresh all week, so as soon as I get home I throw those in the oven (375 for 45 min) and whatever meat (I'm vegetarian, so beans and Quinoa for me) you want on the George Foreman grill.

Do you freeze the zip locks or just keep them in the fridge for the week?
