Funny or offensive? Comedian on fat people.
I obviously have some weight to loose and I think it is very funny.

I think he's lame but I do agree. Its my fault I'm fat.0

I didn't watch the video (yet), but I think it's only funny to poke fun at fatties if the comedian is fat too.0

That is how it works (I probably would not dare post this if I was size 0), but I don't think it should work that way. I think that we should be allowed to make fun of anything we like. (Plus, lots of points he mentioned are true).0 -
OMG,...I'm laughing my butt off!! :laugh:0

This.
Playing devil's advocate, why?
Woman comedian is allowed to make fun of men, you don't have to be a politician or a doctor to make fun of them.
Interesting part is that people who did not watch comment on whether it is ok or not. I would think that is a more reasonable requirement.0 -
I didn't watch the video since I'm at work, but a comedian is allowed to make fun of anyone they want. Fat people, different races, different religions, etc.0
-
Comedians poke fun at everyone...I'm not going to waste any time being offended by it or anything else.
I'm also sad that I can't view this at work. Boo.0 -
It was pretty funny with some truth to it.0

Why do I feel as if you were trolling with this post?
I mean, I have no intention of voicing an opinion one way or another, but...
You can't think that this wouldn't cause a stir in some folks...

I shared something I thought was funny. As you can see many other people who watched it, found it funny. Laughter is good.0 -
Anyone who is offended by something said in a standup comedy act needs to thicken up a bit. Most good comedy is offensive to _SOMEONE_. It's almost always at someone's expense. When your turn to be the comedy whipping boy comes around, don't complain ESPECIALLY if you've ever laughed at a joke at some other group's expense. Come on, most of the biggest comedians out right now have built entire careers on making fun of racial differences, of women, of fat people, of religious people, WHATEVER. This is how comedy works. Deal with it and learn to laugh at yourself when the comedy bullseye ends up on you for once.0

Exactly.
And for everyone getting all worked up him being skinny. This is Ricky Gervais before he lost weight.
So yeah. I think he's earned the right to say a few words on his opinion on weight loss.0 -
I find nothing funny.0

What if the comedian was a former fat person? Would that be ok in your book?0 -
well i was mildly amused.I didn't watch the video (yet), but I think it's only funny to poke fun at fatties if the comedian is fat too.0

Funny and TRUE! With the exception of people who have medical conditions, or took medications that caused them to gain weight. But saying "this is the best fried chicken I've had all day", that's not an exception.0

bump... so I can watch the clip later...0

"Shouldn't one of us switch? Or we'll just fly off to Canada" OMG too funny. I have the biggest crush on Ricky Gervais.
Comedy is great, and it should always be free speech. I am not offended by anything comedians say because they aren't making fun to hurt anyone. They make observations about the world that we live in, and our world IS a little messed up. You can either take offense and be miserable, or join in the fun with the rest of us.
From my favorite TV show...

Funny. Stand up comedians make fun of religions, races, work statis, etc. and people going shouldn't be offended. It's comedy.

It's one thing if you are poking fun at yourself or someone like you. It's quite another if you are using "humor" in an attempt to bully others.*
And I think some of you misunderstand "free speech". Free speech (in the US) means that the government cannot jail you for it (in many cases -- in some they actually can, with the standard being shouting "fire" in a crowded theater when there is no fire). "Free speech" does not mean that others cannot use their own free speech to argue about what you are saying.
*Which I do not believe the comedian in question has done.0 -
All comedians poke fun at people, it's just a joke! I found it funny and now I'm watching the whole thing haha (:0

BUMP for later0

You.. can't... be... serious...
It's a somewhat free country, if a comedian wants to do a gig on fat people then so be it. Nobody is forcing you to watch his/her show.
The only reason why I say somewhat is because people like you get butt hurt , whine and complain. They loose their job which is ironic because it's contradictory to what you are "fighting" for.0 -
I cracked a few smiles. More true than funny I think.0

I honestly don't want stuff that makes me uncomfortable. Some people find college humor like American Wedding funny, and I don't. It's pretty offensive and overall terrible. I watched a standup from Tosh.O and wow, he was vulgar, offensive and a lot of things he said about women's bodies was over the top with crudeness. Never again! I like comedians like George Lopez and Gabriel Iglesias and Martin Lawrence. People who are actually funny without using crudeness and a bully-like mentality as the main meat of their comedy act. It's no surprise that most people find mindless, rude things funny...people are becoming more and more desensitized to the good and true things in life as each day passes. So yea, not watching this. Thanks for sharing though.0

He's very funny but speaking the truth most of all!0
