So apparently sodium causes water retention? Or does it and explain
To me how far your body goes to retain?
Because if I'm consuming 5000mg worth of sodium each and every day, wouldn't my body get used to it?
I mean if it ALWAYS causes water retention then wouldn't I constantly be retaining water and thus gaining weight based on
Sodium consumption alone?
I mean I hear people say "I had a high sodium day but the water weight will go back down in a few days", OH REALLY?
So what about ME and people who have high sodium WEEKS or MONTHS?
When does the water weight stop, and at what point does the body adjust?

You're right in that there is more to it. You have to factor in how much you sweat, your intake of other electrolytes (particularly potassium), your renal function, and the amount and consistency of your hydration. I'm not a scientist, though, so I can't say how it works.0

Constant high sodium intake? Yes, you will always be holding "water weight" but more importantly, you'll be risking your health in other ways. Consider reading http://www.livestrong.com/article/544462-risks-of-sodium-chloride/. It has a good overview of the risks of high salt consumption.0

i don't know for sure if sodium IS the cause but it seems to have a trend with the bloated feeling... so I would say, yes it does have a connection with water weight somehow. if you consume high sodium all the time, your body will probably adapt just like it does to workouts.. but yeah, I would suggest watching the sodium anyways (whether it causes water retention or not).. constant high sodium leads to high blood pressure and other serious health risks.0
