Try it and report back. I'd like to see someone for whom it works.

No. Just no. Are you for real? NO.

I just started dieting and have yet to eat 1,000 calories in one day.
Uhhh, why? Are you seriously serious?

My goal is 1,200 and I am a 5'5 female.
So why aren't you eating that amount? And why is your goal that low? What is this even?

    Mmmhmm.

ETA: I don't really care if you're feeling special and losing weight on it either. Doesn't mean it's healthy.

This is like the fifth thread I've seen today where people are asking the same thing, wind up getting good information, and then arguing "well, I'm losing weight so you're all wrong" or something.

(You and I were both reading that post from the girl who exercises 2 hours a day but can't find a way to eat 1200 calories, even though she has nothing to do but go to the gym all day)

OMG I thought it was the same thread.

I hear of people fasting all the time. I think as long as you eat more than that after a couple of days, it should be fine.

except the OP is looking for validation for this to be their every day diet... not a fast.

It's is not healthy to regularly eat less than 1000 calories per day. Hopefully your goal is to develop long-term healthy habits. Starvation diets are the exact opposite. Treat your body with respect.

It is only unhealthy if not monitored or precribed by a doctor or dietition. Both of mine set my calorie intake at 1000 a day. They monitor me and I am doing great on it.

and the OP isn't seeing a dr... they're here asking for people to just say "sure, you can do that, it's fine."

this is certainly another case of "just do what works for you"... but you aren't the OP. Also, most folks don't jump into VLCD's as prescribed by medical professionals unless circumstances are relatively dire.

I might get a third or fourth opinion if I were you.

Run your numbers through scooby's calculator, eat food.

Edited because I apparently can't spell after my second beer. SMH.

That's why the MFP settings will "warn" you if you are netting under a certain number of calories.

    Agree except:
MFP setting will "warn" you if food intake is under 1200 not the net calories. I was curious one day and found that out. I like that warning also!

It count on how many calories you need to basically function and than how many calories you need to support any exercise your doing as well as your goal for it. If you want to loose some weight and on the smaller size that might be all you need. For a larger size person as myself I need more than 2000 calories a day and that many I am still slowly loosing weight.

You don't want to loose weight to fast either.
