deadlifters....

About two weeks ago I tore the palm of my hand up pretty good while deadlifting..basically ripped some skin off so last week I could not even DL because it hurt too much.
I decided to buy some gloves to try and save my hands. Then when I went to deadlift yesterday the gloves made my grip even worse...I was struggling to hold on to the bar at 325# and I can usually do one rep max 340# when I was not using gloves...
So for all my fellow deadlifters, I am just wondering if you wear gloves? If not, what do you do keep your hands from getting tore up? If yes, do you have similar grip issues with gloves?
Any suggestions for improving grip strength would be appreciated too...

Yes gloves suck, Use chalk
As for improving grip strength, heavy farmers walks, do rack pulls as a grip exercise, plate pinches.0 -
I do not use gloves but find chalk works really well. I use liquid chalk usually or the usual chalk depending on which gym I am at. I found it really helps.
Also, make sure your grip is right:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTqNSgCmM2s

I don't use gloves... Or chalk though I'm looking into it.
For DLs, I used lifting straps.0 -
I'm an outlier because I use gloves and find them helpful. My gym has one deadlift bar, and it's extremely rough and tends to take callouses off the hands. My gym also doesn't allow chalk. That said, I've been through quite a few pair to find ones that had the right fit (very tight) and didn't tear up in a few sessions.0

I was using these grips called Versa Grips. Easier to use than straps but I left them at the gym so they are gone. I recently started using chaulk and I have to say chaulk is almost as good as the versa grips.0

I don't use anything. My hands don't get tore up because I keep the weight pretty much in the fingers with a mixed grip. On my heaviest working set, I squeeze the bar a little more, but I only have calluses - no tears yet. The most I've moved so far is 295 - so I don't know what will happen later, though.0
