Running Injuries

I've been training for a half-marathon and I'm starting to feel pain on the inside of my leg, about an inch above my ankle and I'm wondering if this could be that start of a stress fracture? What type of exercises could I do to strengthen this area? I should probably ice it?
Also, a couple of my friends have torn their Achilles...what exercises can I do to avoid this?
Thanks for any advice...so much appreciated!!

Could be shin splints but probably something just to keep an eye on. Icing is never a bad thing.
For the Achilles you can do eccentric strengthening. Stand on one leg on the edge of a step, facing into the steps and edge of the step just below the metatarsals. Do 3x15 going slowly up onto the toes and back down beyond horizontal with straight leg and same again with the knee bent.0 -
Oh gosh, yes, I agree...shin splints....I agree with Rpeat1....had this before when I was training for running...trying to go too fast the physiotherapist said...fairly same treatment as suggested by Rpeat1.....
Take care of this right away Angie...0
