So, my husband and I are currently having a friendly debate about weight lifting. I am trying to tell him what I've learned on here about lifting heavy (high weight, low reps), how it is good for toning and how I would like to start doing it once I am able to hit the gym. He is very adamant about the fact that he thinks low weights, high reps, are good for toning. He says it's a "medical fact". I am trying to find something "medical" to get it through his head that the ideas of weight lifting have changed, but he's pretty bullheaded. Anyone have any links to articles with medical proof? I did a quick google search, but didn't find anything yet. I figure you guys might be able to help. He personally doesn't care which I do, and supports me either way, but I like to prove him wrong
Thanks in advance :flowerforyou:

Do what you want to do...it is your body. You will be happier doing an exercise program that you want to do. You won't convince him - it i not about a discussion it is about your personal goals. He should support you no matter what your choice. Good luck.

Oh I am still going to lift some heavy weights lol. We are just debating and I want to throw some cold hard facts at him. He completely supports me, but doesn't agree with the method I am going to be using for the results I want.0

Not a medical study, but here's a good summary of the effects of different approaches to weight/reps:
