Hungry. Taxes. Want éclair!

I'm standing in an endless line to weigh and mail taxes. That's after finishing them up and working. It will take another hour. Another hour or more to get home after that. I'm tired, stressed and hungry already. . And it is my day to run. And I don't want to today. And I know tomorrow will be a stressful day at work.

It will be after 10 pm when I am done here, catch my train, work out and than cook my meal.

I am in midtown Manhattan and there are 4 bakeries within the block where I am. Including Financier and Magnolia. I walk past them. And fancy fresh chocolate shops. And my willpower is really dwindling.

Go home, eat and go for your run :) You'll be happy you did as you endure a stressful few days. Take the time for yourself, and just be in the moment :D Its so easy to get stressed out and neglect ourselves. If you still want that eclair afterwards walk the the furthest bakery, or whatever one goes past a grocery store! The guilt eats me alive when I drive past a grocery store on my way to McDonalds! I have not made it to McD's yet. I always end up at the grocery store!

Get a cookie, then earn it by going for your run. 2 birds, 1 stone.

It is not a usual day. It is a tax day. And I can't leave yet. And I usually just walk past all the bakeries that line every way to the train. But today little voice whispers to me that I "deserve" something special. Sigh

I'm afraid those cookies might be up there with an eclair. :o

One eclair isn't going to kill you! Depends on how easily you fall off track... If you have this eclair just don't eat crap for the rest of the day. A cheat here and there isn't a bad thing.. It's good to have some bad food every once in a while :)8215698.png

Magnolia is overrated. (Unless we're talking about their banana pudding. Luckily I don't live in New York, because I have no willpower around that.)

Fully agree with you about Magnolia. Way overrated. However, it is right here.
I think even Financier is better. Than there is also a neuhouse here, and the crape and gelato place... Good thing Lady M is far, or I would have lost the battle already. Now that place is not overrated.

I don't know how many calories are in a pastry from a bakery or a favorite dish from a restaurant. That's the problem.

Look up the menu online and/or in the database and estimate. One pastry is NOT going to kill all your hard work.

I looked up eclairs in the database and they are on average about 250 calories. I did see one that was 500. Could you get a mini eclair and fulfill the craving without going overboard?

If it is so easy to figure out calories in anything, could you help me with the pastry I really love?

I have trouble believing an eclair is only 250.

Pick a pastry in the database thats somewhere around 500 cals and call it a day...better to overestimate in this situation. Please don't make this complicated

    Persevere and pass the goodies.

    Skip the run.

Go home, eat, and get a good night's sleep.

You'll feel recharged and really good about yourself tomorrow.

    Update:

After I mailed the taxes, I went into the shop, looked at the delicious pastries, admired them for a minute, and walked to the train.
I decided that yes, I deserve it, but I will bank it for that green tea crepe cake that I can only get later).

So I went home, and did not get onto the treadmill until after 9. Than I made myself a nice meal -- a 3.8oz piece of filet mignon, rare, with some sauteed mushrooms, good balsamic vinegar and 3/4 oz of St. Andre cheese. It was delicious and it was guilt free! Plus, it took me longer to eat than the eclair would have, and I came 130 calories under my goal.
