How many protein shakes can I have in a day? If I drink one in the am I notice I don't get hungry until 11ish and if I have one at 7pm I don't go raiding the kitchen to food. Both help keep me from making bad food decisions during the day. Is it ok to have two shakes a day?

I use the Whey Gourmet powder with strawberries and water. It comes to be about 160 calories.

Two a day is certainly fine. My whey protein has creatine in it as well, so I limit it to only 2 servings a day. But if it just 100% whey, I don't see a problem as long as you are staying within your caloric range.

My trainer says to max out at three. I have one with my breakfast, one after my workout, and one either before supper (limits what you eat) or around 8:00pm, but use water as the mix. I have noticed the difference and snacks, as you say, are not being craved for.

I have two a day. One in the morning after my workout, and the other right before bed. They say that the one before bed is the most important. That is the longest time a in a day that the body goes with out protein intake, for the average person.

I quite often have two a day (like today!!) and I find they keep me on track too.
They are filling and satisfying so I don't want anything else after I have one.
I use Soya protein powder as I find it's the lowest in sugar, carbs and fat. This works really well for me.
I make them with healthy natural ingredients so I think they are a great meal replacement or snack.
I think two a day is perfectly fine, providing they are good natural stuff so why not even 3?!?!

I do one after workout or as my mid-morning snack (mixed with water) and one before bed (water blended with 1 cup of mixed un-sweetened frozen berries) YUM!

There was a consumer reports published recently that talked about the high levels of heavy metals in protein drinks that can be toxic.

I personally disagree with the whole "too much protein is bad for you" unless you consume loads of it, like 4-6 servings per day. I have had great success in losing my weight and I always supplement with protein twice a day (post workout and evening) it helps me feel full and I dont overeat! Which in turn helps you lose weight because once you overeat, you tend to crave more and then you end up eating more!

I you are a HEALTHY person that works out regularly, then extra protein will not hurt you! I keep my protein to around 100-130 grams per day!

Everyone is different, so whatever works for you, right?
