How about genealogy? Then write or share book about your ancestors' lives and origins?

Can be done in spare moments, but be be warned, it is addictive

Lots is available free, but some is at cost

Pick a hobby that is incompatible with snacking. Sewing is good.

Volunteer at your local hospice or assisted living facility. Hrs are flexible and you can learn a lot while giving back to your community. Many ppl in there have no one to visit them but love to talk. Everyone should have 1 hobby that gives back to their community. If you cant stomach old ppl and death than go the other end of the spectrum. Boys & Girls Club or Big Brother/Sister. Influence a child in your community. Good Luck!

Jewelry :) It's fun, and you don't need to be uber-talented. If you can thread beads on a wire, you're good to go.

Gardening is creative, therapeutic, pretty, tasty, fun, outside, and physical. Gardening is my my favorite hobbies. Can be vegetables, herbs, flowers or a beautiful mix of all three. You can do in in one pot, a small yard space, or even a community garden and help others.

i absolutely love the idea of gardening.
i hope to learn how to get started this summer.
but i can't do that when the kids are in bed.
i wanted something for a night or 2 a week at the end of the day.

    thanks though.

If you like gardening and want to work after the kids go to bed, do what the earlier poster suggested. Get some inexpensive pots or containers and plant some lovely flowers and greens, put them by your front door or on a patio, etc., and smile every time you see what you've created and you can enjoy them all summer! Then you might get the bug to be more active planting in the ground! And maybe you can get the kids involved (depending on age, of course). Give them an early love of something, plant veggies and let them enjoy the healthy food created from their efforts! It will give the kids a good start on healthy eating for their entire lives!

    thanks.
i have a jewelry making set.
i really wanted to make jewelry but when i tried to put different beads together the end result looked like crap.
i don't have a good eye for what styles and colors go together it seems

Gardening, reading, crossword/logic puzzles, photography. How about digital scrapbooking? Lego building? (Adult fans of Legos make some pretty incredible creations.)

I'm very impressed with all of the creative things everyone does!!! I love to knit and read...but lately feel like I need something else to get involved with to further enjoy life (with limited funds). I'm feeling very inspired to start gardening and maybe look into taking up a few other hobbies listed here. Thank you :)
