Am I doing too much?

Right now I'm lifting heavy Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Doing an hour of Zumba, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. I'm thinking about swaping out a zumba for an hour yoga class. I also try to walk my dogs once a day and ride my bike to the farmers market on Saturday. I'm just sort of getting back into being consistently active and healthy after college. Am I trying to do too much?

you need a rest day... your body needs time to recoupe. I used to do 7 days cardio and lifting. it becomes counter-productive after a while. Now I'm on a 5 day schedule, lifting/cardio every day except Wednesday and Sunday when I do NOTHING but enjoy time resting and being with my family, doing fun things.

Truthfully ask yourself if you enjoy being as active as you are. If you enjoy going on walks, have a blast with Zumba or Yoga then no you are not doing too much. If it feels like a chore you might want to adjust so it's just a natural enjoyment.

I personally love going on walks and martial arts. So I use the positive enjoyment of those activities to keep me going. I'm usually excited to get up and break a sweat, If it is the same with you than keep at it. Only you can figure out if what you are doing is right for you.

    Best of luck to you!

I guess a couple of questions I ask other ppl when they think they have a problem:

    1. Are you happy? At the end of the can you honestly say that your enjoying what your doing and how our are spending your time
    2. Is it impacting your social life? Are you cancelling nights out or are your friends complaining
    3. Do you find yourself making excuses for your behavior? If your having to justify your reason for going to the gym frequently then you might want to step back and reevaluate

Everyone goes to the gym for different reasons, you set your own goals and make the choices in the end. But just like spending too much time on the internet, or at the bar everything in balance :)

(my personally thoughts is that I'd like to try and do at least one active thing a day and if I have some social commitments I try to blend it in ie going bowling or playing paintball with friends)

Between martial arts and strength training, I train seven days a week. I have played around with variables quite a bit, but have found that as long as I attend to proper recovery, this works best for me. I make sure to have some days that are very light.

I genuinely do enjoy it. I guess I feel like I am continually hitting a wall in my workouts where I just don't have the energy. I get enough sleep, but am eating at a deficit. Maybe I'm not eating enough?
