What's the point, when it all backfires!!! :(

I posted a while ago about how I hated my kidneys. Well, now it turns out they have got really bad, the doctor has said going by the current trend, I could be looking at needing dialysis in the next 4-5 years. We have discussed the possibility of a living donor and if I can get a match then he would do the transplant in the next couple of years.

If I cannot get a living donor, then I will have to go on the waiting list, 6 months before they predict I will need dialysis, he also said that the average waiting time is 4 years. :(

I just feel so annoyed, I am trying everything to be healthy. I am eating well, exercising and really looking after myself, taking my meds and for what?! It annoys me so much people who abuse their bodies are perfectly fine, yet people who really try hard to be healthy get punished!

I am only 28, I have two young children and now I am faced with this crap in the next few years. I have been transferred to a more specialist clinic now where I will be seen much more regularly, they will have nurses who I can call if I need to and also a specialist renal dietician.

I am just gutted, I was told last year I had at the very least 10-20 years before things progressed... What a whole heap of crap this is!!

I am very sorry that this is happening to you :( Please stay strong, and don't give up because of this. By living this healthy lifestyles you are probably offsetting the effects of this illness quite a bit. Stay strong sister, you are loved and not alone

Thank you, I am still loving the gym and exercise the and benefit from losing so much weight is that my BP has come down so now I am able to drop one of my meds. Plus the gym is an excellent place to vent all the anger and frustration. It just annoys me that before when I was over weight, not exercising and not eating a healthy diet I was plodding along nicely, yet when I make positive changes it all backfires on me.

I am trying to stay positive, knowledge is power as they say and at least I know about my disease and I can plan for it, but it is still *kitten*.

Well, maybe since you did take care of yourself you have a chance to find a donor instead of dropping dead. A lot of people don't make the lists because they aren't considered a good candidates.

I know what a horrible situation you are in I was 18 when I was diagnosed and recived a transplant at 23. being young is hard having to deal with this as you feel like youve not really had a life and you have to change everything. Whereabouts are you from? All of my treatment was done in Coventry and the doctors, nurses and renal team were all really supportive and were always on hand if you needed anything. Keep up the good work in looking after yourself I feel your frustration but unfortunately its one of those things that we can't control. Mine just suddenly got worse too after a slow decline in function. If you want to ask me any questions or just want a chat feel free to message me. :)

Thank you so much for the reply. I live in Essex and was told that my care would be dealt with at a clinic near me, but a transplant would likely be done at Guy's Hospital. It is nice to have someone know what you are going through x

My husband's a dialysis patient. The doctors want him to lose another 20lbs or so before they'll put him on the active transplant list. Sounds like this won't be an issue for you, though. And hopefully, since you're healthy and fit, you'll have a smooth recovery. Good luck to you!

    All I can say is

"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means it’s going to launch you into something great. So just focus and keep aiming"

I know it's tough and you want to give up but be the difference prove the numbers and doctors wrong be happy and healthy and i hope the rest will work its self out for you :)

You're doing everything you need to do physically for your body - but what about mentally? Maybe start sending some love to your kidneys and see if they respond. (And I'm not even kidding...)

How do you think your children would feel if you told them you hated them every time they got sick? As precious as your children are, your body is what is keeping you in this world with your children - shouldn't it be treated as equally precious?

Your body is the physical manifestation of the thoughts and feelings in your mind. We would all do well to keep that in mind.

The point is bodies have a mind of their own, by being healthy and taking care of yourself at least YOU know you did everything you could do to slow down or inhibit the progression of your kidney issue. If you didn't get healthy and take care of yourself you might be wishing you had when it was too late. You are ahead of the pack now, hopefully it all works out. Good Luck. :)
