Hi,
I’m very luck and blessed that I never had to try lose weight before. My weight has always averaged at 126-130lbs but due to considerable stress and personal problems over the last couple of years my diet and daily exercise has suffered. According to my weight and height I should be eating 1800 calories daily to maintain and 1300 calories to lose weight. I’ve been averaging at 1000-1300 calories for a while now but I’ve only managed to lose 6lbs.

To kick start my weight lose I’ve started a green smoothie detox diet. I started today and Ive been ravenous all day! Maybe I’m not drinking enough of it. I got so hungry I cracked and had two portions of porridge, 2 eggs (because I thought the protein would kill my cravings) and one square of dark chocolate. Could someone who’s tried this diet before give me some tips? I’ve read online that I shouldn’t add protein powder, is this wrong?

That's your problem. You don't need to "kick start" your weight loss and you don't need to "detox."

You're supposed to HIT the calorie goal you are given. You're hungry because you're not eating enough.

Hit your calorie goal and exercise = success.

Do you plan on drinking green smoothies for the rest of your life? Pay attention to what people tell you on here. Do the research and find a style of healthy eating that you can sustain for your whole life. 6 pounds is a good start, hang in there!

You really shouldn't go below 1300 calories so you don't send your body into startvation mode. It will start holding on to the fat and metabolism slows down because you aren't getting enough nutrients.
I'm not sure about the smoothie diet but with a juice cleanse you will be hungry for the first two days and then your digestive system gets used to not working so hard to digest and can start repairing itself. This is with juice though, meaning there is no fiber in it, only the juice extract. If you eat solid foods your digestive system will "wake up" and you will feel hunger pains again.
You mostly lose water weight anyways so I woudn't do a cleanse but instead make a green smoothie as a snack or breakfast or whatever instead of trying to survive on just that.

Never been a fan of smoothies, for all the calories in there you could eat real food and actually get full.

I agree!! Eat your calories, exercise, and don't look for instant results. A healthy body takes time to accomplish. I think of it like this:
It takes many years to add the weight to our bodies, so in turn it is going to take time to train our bodies to loose it.

You only have 15 lbs to lose based on your tracker. Not sure where your MFP setting is, but you should have it set to lose .5lbs/week. No need to try something extreme. Continue to eat nutritious foods and, if you prefer, save a little room for a treat each day. You're weight loss may be slow since you are very close to your goal. You are going to need to be patient. Stick with it, you'll get there.
