eating my burned calories?

I'm new here, so I apologize if this is repetitious... but I was wondering what the general consensus is about eating the calories that you burned working out?
I have a hard time accepting this concept... I don't know what the research is on this, but I just signed up for MFP this week and have been logging everything (food and exercise)... and each time I enter in the number of calories burned, it tells me to eat that many calories back. I'm no rocket scientist, but how will I lose weight (I need to see sort of a result quickly or I'm probably not going to stick with this), if I just eat back everything I just worked my tail off burning?! What's the point of working out if you're just going to eat those back again? Yes I 'm sure I'll lose weight because I am keeping an eye on my caloric intake, but I want my exercise to matter... so I'm making sure I meet my daily caloric intake but I am not eating back the calories I burned at the gym.
what has been your experience with this?! Do you eat back the calories? How does this affect your weight loss goal?
