Has anyone done this with succes? If so can you give me a quick rundown of the program including how exercise is incorporated.
Are there any specific foods off limits while fasting?
My tdee is 2364 so I figured my fasting cals as 590, does this seem right?

You'll find a couple of 5:2 specific groups on here if you use the search function, as well as groups using other forms of Intermittent Fasting (IF).
On 5:2 you should stick to under 500 on fast days.
There are no foods off limits, but you'll soon find out which give the best value per calorie!
You can exercise if you like, many of us do with no problem. But you don't get to eat those calories back on a fast day.0 -
Hi Broox80,
I eat between 1800 and 2000 calories each day Sunday to Thursday, I eat 1000 calories on Friday and 500 calories on Saturday. (originally started on 1000 calories Friday and Saturday until 3 weeks ago).
I started in January and have lost weight each week - 25.6 lbs in total.
The only exercise I have been doing is in strolling to and from Work - 18 mins each way.
I weighed myself on Saturday 20th April and had lost 1.4 lbs for the week then I walked 2.5 miles home in 40 minutes burning approx 360 calories and when I weighed myself this morning 21st April, I have lost another 1 pound so I will be adding more exercise the fitter I get.
good luck in your weight loss.0 -

great article on intermittent fasting. i'm not a fan of 5:2, because it seems to be an excuse for people to really restrict themselves, and then binge two days.
IF tends to be more organized and disciplined.0 -
I did this for 2 months before real life commitments got in the way. As a guy I ate 600 calories, 2 days a week. Lost something like 1kg~ a week, although I've never been "obese" - at my heaviest I weighed 82kg. Now down to 75kg and back to being pretty fit.
It's actually not as hard as it sounds, nor was I ultra-lethargic. Although exercise (road cycling) was sometimes unpleasant.
In the end IF is just a calorie deficit, but instead of spreading it over your week you concentrate it in 2 days. Try it, but give it a couple of weeks as the first few fasts are a bit unpleasant. If you like it, continue it.
I'm sure some internet "experts" will chime in here and tell you it's awful, but ignore them if it works for you.0
