vent on calorie counting

I have been calorie counting for about 3 weeks and thought I would be closer to my goal weight, I don't have much to lose and I know that's probably why its harder for me to lose cause its only about 7 to 10 lbs I want to lose. I can only lose the weight by dieting for now because I currently am not able to work out due to a stent in my kidney that causes me a lot of pain and discomfort during and after I work out that I cannot deal with. im so frustrated with counting every single calorie and trying to make sure im eating healthy and not seeing much of a change. i stay under 1300 everyday, i have went over once or twice. no more than that, but i only went over by a few calories. im guessing sometimes it takes longer to lose the fat? :/ im bummed out and frustrated today, im hoping soon i will see more results. when i first started counting calories i went from 127 to 122 the first 2 weeks, and i figure that's water weight. but i haven't lost a single pound in the last week, in fact im up to 124. probably water? please no one tell me im at a good weight, im trying to loose excess fat so when i get my stent out and start working out i can just work on toning my body :) besides im short, im 5'3 and my body is just really fatty all over lol

If you only have 7-10lbs to lose, you should be aiming to lose at a rate of 0.5lbs per week.

It's gonna be slow. Stick with it. The time is going to pass anyway, you might as well be working towards something.
  • If you don't have a whole lot of weight to lose, like right now, it will take longer to come off especially because you cannot work out. How much body fat do you have? Because the statement "muscle weighs more than fat" is very true. Keep your head up and stay at it. It will definitely help when you can get back to working out as well!

Probably not what you want to hear but the only way to tone up is by strength training. I understand wanting the fat to go away but without some sort of strength training then while you will lose those last bit of pounds it won't be toned and considered "Fat"..

I know because that is how I saw myself many years ago and I wasn't toned at all - still skinny fat :)

    This^^^^

You don't have the fat stores to be more aggressive than that. Your body will just rebel by shutting down your metabolism with an aggressive weight loss goal with little to lose.

I've been calorie counting AND exercising for MONTHS (like since November!) and have only lost like 5 pounds. It's SOOO frustrating. I have a hard time with calorie restriction because mymetabolism is so weird. I'm hungry like every two hours... You'd think with a metabolism that worked like that, I'd be rail thin... but, nope!

I don't have a lot to lose either. It is slow going. After an initial loss, I stayed fairly close to the same weight from February. I have not logged my weight this week yet but I think I'm finally down a bit again. I log on Wednesdays. It does work, you just have to be patient.
