Anyone doing Spin classes?

I would love to add some MFP friends who enjoy Spinning! I went to my 2nd class today and I love it! Having some issues with soreness, but hopefully that will pass. :) I plan to go again in the morning. I would love to have some experienced Spinners as MFP friends! Feel free to send me a friend request. The only reason I tried the Spin class was because I just discovered Zumba about a month ago and fell in love with that too, but my knee is bothered by it so I had to take a break. I honestly didn't think I would love it. What did you do in the beginning to get rid of the soreness?? I bought some padded gel cycling shorts, but I'm still uncomfortable! Please tell me it gets better! :)

  • I LOVE Spin - I get the best work work out from it and find it helps me burn the most cals when I use my HRM. I also find I pull up less sore than a run - Much easier on the knees!

I love it when theirs good tunes and the trainer is motivating! Good fun :)

ahah I think padded shorts helps and you do get use to it, i personnally can't do spin everyday cos my butt hurts haha but I think for long time cyclists that just improves as you go along! :)

Your butt will get used to it. Everytime I start back up the first week is horrible....my butt is SO bruised. I bought a padded seat cover that I bring to class with me and that helps. I love spinning. Such an amazing workout.

Your butt will be fine after a week or 2. The only thing that I can add to helping the situation is to keep doing more classes . You can stand and stretch inbetween tracks, that gives you a little break. I have been spinning for 6 years now, doing 3 to 4 classes per week and still love it. If you are going to become a serious rider get some shoes with kleets that way you are pulling as well as pushing.

I started spinning a few months ago, and now I am completely obsessed! I promise your rear end will get used to it after a few classes. The more you go, the more you will be able to stand up, and the more your rear end will thank you. ;) It took me a while before I was able to even come close to doing all that the instructor had the class doing, and I am still gaining strength and endurance. But, for the first time in my life, I find exercise fun!

I do 2-3 spin classes a week and I very much enjoy it :) The first couple of weeks I was in agony, but now Ive gotten used to it. I use padded shorts and padded seat :P Also something that helps me tremendously is to make sure to get one of the spin bikes with a seat that doesnt tilt forwards! But we just have pretty **** bikes, where you go might be better :P

Hello, I've started spinning back in December of last year. I decided to try it after hearing other girlfriends of mine rave about it. I did take a month and a half off but I started back this week. The soreness will go away eventually as long as you stick to it. I too still take a padded seat covering to class. It gets better with time. I really enjoy it.

I spin 2 times per week. Not only does it burn lots of calories, but your body will keep on burning calories for several hours afterwards. I keep it to twice per week so I always look forward to going and I don't get burn out. The music is great and the class seems to be the same enthusiastic people each time I go. They are a committed bunch of folks and I plan to become one of them.
