So hungry after eating so much

I'm having a problem with being hungry even after eating throughout the day. I re joined weight watchers and I have...every day since...gone over my allowed points AND used up my weekly allowance by the second day....
I eat "snacks" throughout the day but still nothing keeps me full...these snacks range from carrots, celery, string cheese, fruit snacks, bananas, crisps everything is serving size portioned.
What am I doing wrong?
I don't want to waste the time and energy to count everything all day and the money on the program just to fail but I can't seem to eat enough to stay full...
What do you eat to stay full?

Honestly I drink a lot of water. When I eat a lot of snacks, albeit healthy ones, in between meals it makes me hungrier. For me, eating my three main meals and then maybe some carrots or fruit in between helps. But the water is what really does it.0

eat more things with protein. add some almond butter to your celery, full fat yogurt, cottage cheese0

Add healthy fats and protein: almonds, avocados, protein powder, eggs, greek yogurt.0

What makes a huge difference for me it to make sure I have protein at every meal and snack. It digests slower.0

I'm finding that eating snacks during the day is making me hungrier as well. If I stick to 3 healthy meals a day, I seem to do better.0 -
You don't have to eat full fat yogurt, try the Greek yogurts. I eat a Chobani fat free or low fat yougurt everyday for breakfast - they have a lot of protein and are super thick which keeps me satisified for a couple hours. Then I have some almonds mid-morning. Then lunch. At around 3 or 4 pm I have a piece of fruit. If dinner is late (7 or later) I have some more almonds. And I drink water constantly.0

I've started drinking more water at least 4 bottles a day now as opposed to half of one before.
I work 12 hour shifts, my usual routine is hit starbucks on my way to work and I won't have to eat the rest of the day or don't get hungry until around 5/6 and by that time it's almost time to go home.
Protein I know is good for filling but it's also a lot of "points" according to weight watchers. I love avocados and eat one a day but it's 4 points0 -
I chew gum or brush my teeth between meals. Oh and drink lots and lots of water.0

Without knowing everything you eat, it's impossible to give any real advice. How much protein, carbs, fat, calories, etc.?
None of your snacks sound particularly filling, except maybe the cheese. Maybe the problem is you snack too much? Eat bigger meals, and less snacks.0 -
I second the calls for water and protein. Thirst sometimes masks itself as hunger if your body is used to thirst signals being ignored. Protein and fiber should help with feeling full.0

Not being able to see your diary, it is hard to know where you are going wrong. I know for me cutting back on the sugary carbs including breads, cookies, anything processed makes a difference. The main thing is to replace those processed carbs with more protein and lots of water....drink your eight glasses a day. Carbs turn to sugar, the more you have, the more you want, a vicious circle. Protein takes longer for the body to digest so you are not hungry as much. Give it a try. Low-fat cheese, plain almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts (no more than 30g. or 1 ounce) and some fruit with them.0

Stop snacking!
Snacking might work for some people but it clearly doesn't work for you.0 -
My egg sandwich this morning is keeping me full a lot longer than I thought it would.
High fiber muffin - 90 cal
2 eggs - 147 cal
2 pieces of bacon - 60 cal
25 grams (1 slice to cover bread) of avocado - 40 cal
337 cal - 27/20/24 C/F/P
I made it at 6:30 this morning and its 10:45 now - still not hungry
So I would say as everyone else - high protein/fiber0 -

Are you drinking enough water? I drink 2 litres a day, and that makes me fuller.... it could be that you are dehydrated??

Lately I'm in the same boat. I drink 12 cups of water a day. I eat a good breakfast to start my day and have a Greek yogurt or fruit for my morning snack and I snack between lunch and dinner too.. My protein intake daily is 115 g. But I'm always hungry lately.0

I don't see a whole lot of protein there. celery and stuff isn't going to make you satiated...neither are fruits, bananas, or crips. You need protein and healthy fats, not just a bunch of carbs that run right through you.0 -
Water is the key for sure.
I too have had issues trying to stay full and eating smaller snacks was really not helping alone.
Before you are about to snack out or over eat drink 2 large glasses of water slowly.
This concept seems to work well with me or at least helps decrease any unwanted large snack.0 -
I find that eating actually makes me hungry. Don't eat so frequently if this is your issue.0

When I started losing weight, I had to force myself to drink more water. I felt like I was hungry all the time, but after a week or so of drinking when I thought I wasn't thirsty, it felt like I reset my thirst mechanism. Dehydration will often present as feelings of hunger, so keep that in mind.0

I've never done weight watchers so I don't know if they're actually "good" or not. But personally I'd say if you want to feel fuller discard the "point" system and go by not only how much you're eating, but WHAT you're eating.
I guess for example say weight watchers says unhealthy snack bar is less points than healthy protein shake...I'd go with the protein shake regardless. Especially since it'll help keep you fuller and would be more satisfying.
Again, I've never done weight watchers so I don't know/understand the point system, but I do know it's never good to beat yourself up over a few mistakes. Just keep doing the best you can

If you try some/or all of these good hints and are still "hungry," you may be eating out of habit or in response to stress or boredom. Try diversions like outdoor exercise, involvement in a project you like, etc. Are you still hungry?0

Stop snacking!
Snacking might work for some people but it clearly doesn't work for you.
This too. I tried the 6 meals/snacks a day thing and it backfired for me. I'm much happier and in better control with 2-3 meals and a snack if needed.0 -
Its usually the quality of food rather than the quantity of food. Since your diary is locked..hard to tell. I know if I chow on too many carbs..and dont compensate with some protein..i am still hungry..but balancing is my key.
I can carb load before and after a long run (10 miles or more)...and am usually fine..its finding your sweet spot which will take some time.
Oh and processed foods..they never fill me up as much as real food0 -
I lost a lot of weight on one of the older points systems, and yes, I found I was hungry most days.
I tried the new system, but didn't find it helped, that's when I came to MFP and started tracking calories, and losing weight.
It took me several years to figure out what works for my body.
I need a good sized meal to satisfy me, but then I don't get hungry for a long time after. Many days, I eat 2 meals a day (late morning, and then at supper time.
I've learned to stay away from apples, as I always feel hungry 30 minutes after I have one, no matter how much or what I ate previously.
I also played around with Intermittent Fasting (24 hours or 36, a few times a week), and I feel that made me realize that I'm not going to die if I don't eat regularly, and that hunger pangs will go away if I occupy myself with something else.0 -
Eventually you won't feel the 'need' to stay full & you'll be just as satisfied without being 'full'.
It's hard at first, but the best thing to do is cut out a snack or two from your day.. it will get easier!0 -
I just opened my diary, I started eating "better" this past friday as you'll see a lot of starbucks and nastiness in my previous journals.
I did weight watchers when I was 20 at that point I was only 132 but thought I was heavy, by 21 I was at 115, however I got a new position at work and that's when it all went downhill. The last almost 5 years have been nothing but eating out and eating unhealthy. Since weight watchers worked before I figured it would work now.0
