OK, I know many of my favorites are not MFP friendly, but I do eat a sandwich every week..... one of the only times I allow myself some cheese, really. Tomorrow I will be making the following sandwich for my family:

Sourdough Bread
Brie Cheese
Blueberry or Strawberry Preserves
Proscuitto

This will be a version of grilled cheese. Personally, I won't touch it, as I hate Brie cheese. Not sure what I will have, but it will likely be a sandwich.

Pastrami with mustard, pickles, and provolone. I don't care about the bun. Just give me the meat!

Nice, chewy, whole grain bread, preferably with nuts/seeds/wheatberries in it
Thin layer of yellow mustard on one slice
    Peanut butter on the other
In between, big, thick pile of leaf lettuce
(Add any other salad-type items, like onions)

Tastes like a salad with honey mustard dressing in sandwich form.

    Lunch today:

Sourdough, medium-thick cut from a loaf
    Maple ham
    Deli chicken
    Mayo
    Whole grain mustard
2 slices Garlic & Herb monterey jack cheese

Half of that, a few chips and 2 bottles of water kept me well within calories for the day. Will eat the other half tomorrow.

I make all of our bread, so my bread, roast beef, red onion, horseradish sauce mixed with cream cheese and arugula dressed with olive oil, lemon zest, salt and pepper. Panini style. Add a slice of aged cheddar if I have it, but usually my cheese budget goes to goat cheese and various blues.

Indeed..... and before MFP, I used to eat at least one a week. I've probably eaten over 1000 in my life..... Now, I "maybe" eat one per month.

Here was the way I ate mine:

    The steak
American Cheese..... no damn cheese wiz.... that's for tourists, IMO. ( I lived in or near Philly for 50 years )
    Fried Onions
Hot Peppers..... though I am partial to sauteed jalapenos, or habaneros
    Mushrooms..... NOT CANNED
and, depending on my mood, ketch or mayo
    Occasionally some pickle slices

I miss eating them, but 1 heart attack is enough. :)

    muenster cheese
    bacon
    wilted spinach
any bread will do, but ciabatta is best

That sounds yum, but can someone tell me why in America, chips with sandwiches is a thing?? It seems SUPER odd to me!

Lol I spent 3 weeks in Holland and I found it strange that people used margarine instead of mayo and mustard on their sandwiches. They also didn't dip french fries in ketchup but instead dipped them in a mayo/mustard type of dip. Also, they used a stomper to extract lemon juice out of a slice of lemon instead of squeezing it !!!! And lastly they used very small coffee cups whereas I love to use a jumbo sized coffee mug !!!! I loved Holland !!!! I could get use to these differences !!!!

Yay, I'm from Holland, finally someone who agrees that not every sandwich needs mayo and mustard, how ever is can be yummy lol

I'm getting intoxicated reading this thread.

Philly cheesesteak - thin sliced ribeye, garlic powder, black pepper, white american with mushrooms on a crispy 8" hoagie roll
Patty melt (is it a sandwich??) with a juicy beef patty cooked the rarest that the health department will legally allow
Reuben made with fresh corned beef and grilled like a patty melt
NC pulled pork with a scoop of coleslaw
A loaded burger with an egg on top

All sandwiches above must have juices dripping onto the plate as you are eating it.

One thing I hate on burgers/sandwiches - tomato based bbq sauce - I have yet to find a decent bbq sauce besides Cookies from Wall Lake, IA.

    A Juicy Lucy

Hamburger (or turkey if you prefer) stuffed with provolone and bacon placed on texas toast with grilled onions and grilled like a grilled cheese. No condiments needed.

My favorite is a Philly Chicken, I saute red and green peppers, onions, and mushrooms-no oil- then add my sliced (cooked)chicken breast at the last minute just to reheat. I use a light roll and spread one Laughing Cow light swiss on the roll--the chicken mixture melts it! Also one slice of reduced fat swiss and voila--dinner done. This is my guilty food turned low cal, low fat--and it's delicious!!
The chicken and peppers always overruns the roll--so I eat it with a knife and fork and enjoy every morsel.

I soften some onion and either rocket or spinach in a pan with some garlic and chilli flakes and serve on a toasted sesame seed bagel with 4 thin slices of chorizo and 20g reduced fat cheese. It is delicious and so filling.
