Grrrr... water weight.

So, I'm off to the doctor this afternoon. I lost 50 lbs last year, and have maintained, give or take a few lbs., ever since. I am only 34 years old, and am within 15 lbs. of a healthy weight.
Last July, my doctor took me off of my blood pressure medication, and my blood pressure had been perfect ever since (115/70). Yesterday, I had a horrible headache, and my ankles were swollen when I took my socks off. Still didn't think too much of it. I had a horrible night sleeping, kept feeling jittery and achy, just not right. Woke up this morning, the headache was back.
When I stepped on the scale, I had gained 7 POUNDS! Since yesterday! My rings are tight and I am miserable. Horrible headache is still there. I had the nurse and work check my blood pressure. She checked it twice today, 1st time 150/98, 2nd time 148/100.
I am so bummed... I know the water weight will come off, but I am bummed that I might be going back on my meds... I still exercise, eat right, etc. Anyone with hypertension had this happen?

Lay off the salt, drink plenty of water, and follow your doctor's orders.

Check out the D.A.S.H. diet. Try to keep your sodium between 1,500 and 2,300 mg per day (1,500/day is best).0

Well... My thyroid is enlarged. So enlarged that they are surprised I'm not having trouble swallowing. Dr. is fairly certain that my sudden blood pressure and fluid issues are related to an undiagnosed thyroid problem. They drew several tubes of blood. Prescribed some lasix to get rid of the fluid and hopefully get the blood pressure down. I will know more after the blood tests come back. Ick. I also was told to take it easy until next week- meaning no bike ride tonight. I had two PVA's while she was listening to my heart, which could also be caused by a thyroid issue. So, the fluttery heart feeling last night wasn't my imagination. I hate health problems. Particularly when they interfere with my plans!0
