Hi all, i am a very lazy dieter and tend to do really well with weightloss when i eat the same foods day in and day out. I know this is not good for getting nutirents but its the only way i can succeed.
At the moment i am having all bran crunch for breakfast and lunch with skimmed milk and feel good im not snacking.
After closer inspection i found my dinners have over 700 calories a meal which makes my total over my 1200 a day :-(
I am looking for a quick and easy meal for dinners that is under 400 calories , that will give me leway incase i want a treat at the weekend.
please help!! i appreciate all advice

I've tried the "Special K 2 bowls a day" diet several times and felt soooooo weak while on it, and the weight comes right back! Honestly you'd be better with a bowl of GOOD soup (not a cup-a-soup or over-salted tin, a fresh one, home-made even better).
Are you eating back your exercise calories? If you're not exercising you're going to have trouble keeping within the 1200 as its very low (there's loads of threads to that effect!). I find the best way to have enough calories is to do some exercise - just 20 mins or half an hour round the block can yield a surprising number of calories if you walk briskly!
Also, make sure you weigh your cereal - its easy to pour too much into a bowl.
Quick and easy - jacket potato and low-sugar baked beans/i1/2 can tuna with some low fat mayo. (quick if in the microwave, easy in the oven - and you can do something else while its cooking)
Pasta (75G uncooked) with tomato-based sauce (check calories - some are higher than you'd think!) and small amount of grated parmesan
Green salad and grilled salmon fillet0 -
Totalling over 1200 calories is a good thing.
Have a look through other peoples diaries for ideas0 -
Yesterday I had a huge salad, half a can of tuna mixed with Fage Greek yogurt, 2 hard boiled eggs and a bag of mini cheddars to eat with it. (cheese biscuits/crackers) for 436 calories. Delicious and filling. Lots of protein.
Home made soups are good. I do a chicken noodle and smoked pea and ham for around 300 calories per bowl!
My diary is open!

Learn to love turkey! Turkey breast is pretty inexpensive and it's really low fat and quick to cook in a stirfry with some green leafy veg like savoy cabbage or kale and mushrooms, peppers or celery etc. I eat this quite a lot as I know it will come in around 350-450 calories even using proper oil to fry off rather than some gross fry light spray can thing and it's really satisfying, also you get a good vitamin hit.0

More then likely you should be eating more then 1200 calories anyway. & If you're exercising, you definitely need to be eating more.0

Tesco reduced fat wraps are good, put chicken breast in with chilli sauce (Harvester chilli is really low calorie) natural yogurt and a ton of salad, you get 2 full wraps for about 500 calories and tastes great, replace the chicken with steak if you can too0

Take a look at the BBC good food website, lots of good healthy ideas, and you can even set the search for a certain calorie amount I tried the speedy meatball stew the other day and it was sheer nom nom

What are you eating that's racking in over 700? There's probably ways to alter the prep to get the calories down.0

mmm tuna with Greek yogurt sounds nom nom. i suggest 1/2 avocado for good fats (150) cut up 5 shrimp (cooked and such 60 cal) 1 tablespoon mayo and whatever seasoning about(35). cut up the avocado in chunks add shrimp stir together and enjoy on bread or english muffin sooo good and filling and about 300-350 cal.0

My job is also sat down all day. I do a 20-min workout before breakfast (Rosemary Conley 7-day slimdown) and when I get home I do 30-45 mins either more RC workouts/toning mixed or some Wii Zumba 2. PLus I go to one zumba class a week - even if you HATE exercise (I won't set foot on a torture chamber...er....gym ) if you like dancing or clubbing you'll love zumba! Plus it burns around 600 calories for an hour. And at weekends I go for a longer walk and try to up the pace a bit (I also walk at lunchtimes and don't want to get all sweaty:ohwell: )
A calorie is a calorie - don't believe "carbs are evil" but equally they are often quite high in calories so you should be adding more protein rather than more carbs. You'd be better having an egg sandwich for lunch (use a little very light mayo to mash the eggs) instead of cereal. If you open up your diary I'm sure lots of poeple can offer more advice.0 -
How about adding in fruits and vegetables! Your body will thank you.0

Carbs are awesome, so long as they're the good kind & not the bad. People often forget about fiber - most only get about half of what they need, & a lot of that comes from carbs like fruits, veggies & whole grains.
My dinners are usually around 400, & my food diary is open to friends if you wanted to add me. I have pasta with (usually) my home made sauce about 3 times a week, or a big salad with some tuna often too. I'm somewhat of a "lazy dieter" too in the sense that I buy/ cook/ eat a lot of the same things every week.0 -

you really need to learn how to eat and get good nutrition. honestly. your diet doesn't sound like it involves any fruit or vegetables. you cant go through life eating all bran 2 out of 3 meals unless you want bowel cancer.

Exactly! Eat proper food not processed cereals. You can be lazy in the kitchen and still eat well if you take the time to plan a healthy diet. Although they are not bad foods a diet of just cereal, eggs and bread is bad for you. You need to eat a variety of foods.
Re your question about bread - brown bread is just white bread with brown colouring and has no nutritional benefit. You should buy wholegrain bread, preferably one with seeds as they are nutritious, tasty and sustaining.
It's good that you walk at lunchtime. Do that every day and you will benefit.0 -
Stay away from processed, convenience foods. Up your protein! tuna fish, chicken, eggs, ff yogurt, etc etc.0

feel free to check my diary... It's open0

What are you not eating that is racking less than 700? I could easily eat a 700 calorie meal without even trying.
To OP:
Why are you starving yourself? You want to keep this weight off right?
So lose it slow, and eat... way more then 1200.
Fruits, veggies, protein and carbs.. plus a little exercise and you'll be just fine.0 -
