Hungrier when I don't work out...

I work out just about every day. I find myself somewhat hungry on those days but nothing that I can't control. Then on the few days that I don't work out I find myself REALLY hungry. You would think it would be the other way around cuz on the workout days I'm obviously burning more calories. Does anyone else have this? What gives? Am I really more hungry or is it just all in my head or something?

this happens to me. i have no clue why. it's not an issue to "restrict" to keep myself around my goal on workout days, but on rest days i just want to eat ALL the food. frustrating.

Same!! Maybe it's because I usually work out at lunch time so I eat later on work out days. Yesterday was my rest day and I ate more than usual!!

It is all in your head - you crazy!!! Just kidding. I tend to eat more on rest days, too. Which is why I never rest...

Exercise dulls hunger temporarily. Couple that with muscle recovery on rest days and it makes sense that you'd feel more hunger.

Snap! Today I've done no exercise at all and I am starving, I will have gone over by the end of this evening (only by 90cals), but as I was under yesterday I'm sure I can cope.

This happens every time I have a rest day, weird! Glad to hear though that I'm not the only one.....

Agreed. I have always had this theory that your body gets used to the "feel-good" chemicals your brain produces when you exercise. When you don't exercise your brain will go looking for its "fix" and the easiest way to get it is with food. When I don't exercise I crave sugar and carbs.

    This happens to me also.
Part of me feels like it's easier to remember NOT to ruin all my exercising by eating everything in sight on the days I workout....no science behind that....just a thought about myself.

This happens to me, too. Good motivation to get out there and so SOMETHING exercise-wise, even if it's just mowing the lawn!

Exercise dulls hunger at least temporarily as previously mentioned, but I feel in addition that exercise is a trigger to keep doing well that day, as well as a distraction from free time (devil makes work for idle hands etc). Any evening I don't go for a walk I'm generally hungrier, simply because I have an extra hour free if I don't go out.
