I don't eat soy because my body can't tolerate it (nothing to do with hormones), but I don't think people need to avoid it. I drank and ate soy products for years and years before I realized I had to quit.

That said, soy is in tons of products (ex. chocolate), not just soy milk. I bet most if not all of the people here saying it's bad are accidentally consuming it quite frequently.0 -

I always get organic soy milk. Mostly because I'm passionately against GMOs & a lot of soy in the US is GMO.0

Also most has carrageenan in it too, and that's also bad news.0

Wow... people are so serious around here. To each their own. Personally I drink homemade almond milk, which is ridiculously easy to make and delicious. I personally do not like the taste of soy, my mother and grandmother had breast cancer and were advised to avoid soy, and to tell me and my sister to do the same, and soy is always GMO (I've yet to see any organic soy besides soy milk)... Regardless, for these reasons I choose other options for me personally.
In Canada you can get Organic No GMO soy milk, I drink So Nice unsweetened and you can also get soyganic tofu http://www.sunrise-soya.com/soy-products/soyganic.php.
I know a lady that owns a health food store. Her Grandmother grew up on an organic soy farm and ate the stuff all the time and lived till 108 yrs. I'm sure in moderation soy is very safe. To each their own do your homework and what's right for you.0 -
If you're hypothyroid (as I am) keeping your soy intake at a minimum is suggested. I'm an almond milk girl.0

Soy milk is not bad for you. I'm lactose intolerant and have been drinking soy milk since I was a child, and it's done me no harm.0

I eat everything and anything that fits my macros (including soy and beef). I feel great.0

I would not use if you have a history of breast cancer with cancer that was positive estrogen receptor, related to estrogen and soy. Same with edamane, which is soy based. However, like everything else......some say that it can be used if not in excess. Anything in excess is bad for you, so personal choice or MD recommendation.0

The taste is really a personal thing: for me, soya milk tastes like watery cardboard, although I don't mind it *too* much in coffee.
For alternatives, try rice milk for porridge (delicious!) and almond milk is lovely as well. Yesterday I discovered chocolate coconut milk (brand: Koko) which also works well as a hot chocolate and it is divine!0 -
Soy products in general increase your chances of breast cancer, it depends on consumption, it reduces testoren in your body which can really affect your libido, in fact soy beans/products were originally used to help men/women to abstain from sex. Also straight up raw soy beans can't be digested by your body at all, I just can't imaging soy products being good for anyone. Soy has always been praised as some healthy thing when it really isn't. Some studies say that soy can be quite detrimental to your health, and that the isoflavones can interfere with your endocrine system and hormone balance. This can possibly reduce fertility in women, contribute to premature puberty, and has even been linked to certain cancers and conditions like gyecomastia (male breast development) when consumed in large amounts.
I would opt for almond milk or rice milk instead.0 -
I read online that any soy milk product that has an expiration date months away means it is bad for you since they are apparently filled with hormones, which can mess up your body/health.
Regarding soy milk, generally when I have had it in the past about 45 minutes to an hour later I start getting really bad muscle cramps all over. Soy milk is just not compatible with my awesomeness.0
