I Have Improved On __________

I want you to tell me about your success, nothing about weight though. For a second let's all pretend weight doesn't exist and focus on our success with our health.

What have you improved at? What have you done that left you smiling when it was complete? Tell me. Don't mention anything about weight, just focus mainly on how your health has improved, and if you can do something better then you could before, even if you're not a size 3 or 10 lbs lighter yet, you are winning in my book as long as you're improving!

Leg lifts. Sounds silly but leg lifts and circles just KILLED me in the beginning. Roll ups (sit ups, but with your legs pressed down on the floor), too. Now I can do those all day. Feels so good!

    Great topic!

great post - thanks - gets one to thinking.
I have noticed that my ankles are no longer a bit swollen
I have noticed that my posture is better
I have noticed that in general I am eating better
I recently discarded the last pair of pants that fit when I joined MFP - broken zipper and all.
Clothes that I have not been able to wear are starting to fit again
I feel lighter and have a bit more pep in my step
    take care:flowerforyou:

I can run/jog for half an hour straight on the treadmill now, before I'd struggle doing 5 minutes. Also bumping up my speed as well so more running than jogging now
  • Woah, o.o, there is some serious progress being made! Keep going! :)

I hardly ever eat sweets and bread anymore....I mean, one day a week, I indulge in whatever I want....but since almost eliminating it..my skin absolutely glows. I have never been completely pimple free...but I am now. I'm not as tired as I use to be. I have lots of energy...and my cravings for junk food..are now cravings for grilled fish and turkey. I use to go through a 2 liter of soda a day..that habit is GONE. Now I drink tons of mint tea and water.

Small changes lead to huge accomplishments.

I've gotten better on portion sizes/control
I've noticed during my Insanity workouts that I can stretch a little more than when I started the program, like I'm gaining flexibility.
I've severely cut back on the soda and am drinking sooo much more water.

    I am sleeping better.
I can do over one hundred jumping jacks and when I started ten were a chore.
I have way more energy and I do not suffer from afternoon slumps like I used to.
I find little use for television, in fact I rarely watch it since I would rather be on this site or searching for healthy recipes when I have downtime.
  • I enjoy how every single day I can see myself getting stronger, better, can lift heavier, push myself for longer.. It's a good feeling
  • More energy.
    I sleep better/easier.
    Walking longer, longer distances everyday.
    Making better food choices.

    Great topic.

I have improved by getting rid of my hypertension.
I have improved by no longer having excess fat on my back and legs.
I have improved by gaining discipline to get up earlier every day and workout and learning it's okay in moderation.
I have improved by surpassing even my oldest clothes. They are all too big now
I have improved by being just that much closer to having abs for the first time in my life and feeling comfortable in a bathing suit

The Acid Reflux problem is much less as I shrink. I still will always need to take the over the counter pills because otherwise my perfume allergy is out of control. They are linked. Long story short, everytime my stomach shrinks, I feel that the acid reflux problem goes down.

When I started doing body pump.. I couldn't attempt a push up, never knew what a side plank was and when we were told to sit up while holding the bar (after being on the step thing) I couldn't sit right up. It was a struggle.

Now I can do a few pushups, do a few side planks and I can sit right up from the step when told to sit up.

These days I am disappointed when I have to take my car somewhere (for instance when I go to pick up a giant bag of dog food or kitty litter). I walk almost everywhere now, not only because I push myself to do it because it's good for me, but because I actually really enjoy it! I never would have predicted that a year ago.

Patience. Especially. Next month I would have been going at this journey for 3 years. In the beginning I would be mad if I didn't get something right the first shot or so but now I am able to embrace that everything is a learning experience. :)

    I have improved on:

    My self-image, esteem, and confidence.
My understanding on fitness, nutrition, and health
My attitude towards myself and life in general
Smoke free for over 8 months

    Fitness wise, I've improved on:
Going from doing wall push ups, to half push ups and now I am doing full push ups! I do 20 per set (and I do 3 sets).
Improving and hopefully will be able to do chin ups and pull ups in a month or two :)
Pushing from 40lbs to 100lbs on chest presses and tricep press extensions.
Pushing from 40lbs to 80lbs on lateral pulldowns
Able to do 30-40 squats per set (3 sets) and working on doing better with them being ATG
I don't fall over too often doing forward and reverse lunges
My longest held plank was 100 seconds :D

Endurance and getting a little stronger. Last year I would jog around the park and it was difficult to do a lap. I also did not have the upper arm strength to climb a tree. By the end of the fall I could jog around the park once and a half and climb the tree!

Recently I challenged myself again to see if I could do it because I did not jog outside over winter but did cardio and interval training inside. The day was beautiful for the first time yesterday so I went for a jog outside. To my surprise I can still do it! Now I just have to push myself a little more this summer. :D

I have improved on walking. I can walk an hour...and do hills...and keep up the pace! When I started a month ago, thirty minutes was the best I could do, and even that involved a lot of huffing and puffing.

I have improved on resisting temptation. I can watch other people eat desert, and really be bothered, except for occasions when I know my daily calorie intake can handle a few bites of a treat! My sweet tooth is minimized.

I have improved on trusting my body. A month ago, I'd have answered "yes" pretty much any time someone asked if I was hungry. Now I know when I'm hungry. And I don't eat when I'm not. And I know when I'm full. And when I'm thirsty. It's surprising.

The elliptical. I went from three minutes to 30 minutes (which is usually my mind-numbingly bored limit.)

Bench press. I went from small dumbbells to actually using the empty barbell. Hopefully soon I'll be able to put big girl weights on it!

Everything fitness related. I can do boy style pushups about 50% of the time where I could barely do 3 girl style when I started. I can hold my planks longer and do them on my toes half the time. The weights I use are heavier. My squats are deeper. I actually was able to do triceps dips the other night. I can run short distances with out my knees hurting. We were doing sprints yesterday and I think I actually felt my heels hit my butt I was pushing myself so hard. I'm no longer scared to try new exercises - we recently got tractor tires to use and the first session we used them everyone else was skeptical to try flipping them and I just sauntered right up and was like "I've got this". I feel better and have a much brighter outlook on life. I'm more comfortable sleeping. My back doesn't hurt if I lay on it instead of my side or stomach.
