I eat very well... lots of chicken, fresh fruits and veggies, lean dairy, whole grain breads. I'm having trouble reaching my 1200 calories per day, and having trouble not going over my recommended protein, fiber, and sugar (which is all natural) for the day. How can I get all my calories in and not go over on the others?

Assuming you are for real (seeing as this is your first post and you have no information on MFP), you can not be going over on protein and fiber while eating under 1200 if you follow the macros MFP sets up. What do you have yours set to?0
-
If you are following MFP's recommendations, they set protein and fiber pretty low, you can custom change those. I eat way more protein and fiber than what MFP would have had also, I changed mine. But My suggestion is to eat larger quantities of the foods you are eating - less than 1200 is not nearly enough calories.0

If you are having trouble eating 1200 calories there is something wrong because I am sure that before your journey you were eating well over 1200 calories, no? Unless you're recovering and trying to gain of course.
I used to do 1200... then 1400... now 1600. My body is loving 1600 and I am able to lose a little whilst gaining muscle. 1200 was simply depriving. So unless you're 5'2 or something, you should probably be eating more!0 -
I have been using Myfitnesspal for just one week, but I am running into this problem to. I am always over my protein. I was over my sugar for a few days because of greek flavored yogurt. I am not a carb person. I have plenty of carbs left. I wonder if there is a way for us to move our portions around to what suits our particular tastes. So many other diets say lean protein is no problem. I think as long as you are not going over on your sugar and fats eat your calories for the day and ignore those red numbers. I don't think MFP gives us enough protein. But it needs to be good protein. I eat egg whites and fish. Hope this is more encouraging than the first reply you had! You are on the right track!0

fats and protein are essential! I try to get over 100g protein a day, and have about 60g of fat a day. Fat is NOT evil despite popular belied - we need it for healthy living and functioning. MFP recommendations are generally seen as not so good
You can adjust your macronutrients in the custom settings (fat/carbs/protein) to what you want, but of course there are general standards. It is common for people to have 40carbs/30fat/30protein, I have done 35carbs/30fat/30protein in the past. I am thinking to reduce carbs though as I am losing my carb addiction and not needing them as much (except before working out for some energy of course).
Remember micro nutrients - vitamins and minerals - are very important. Want to prevent something like osteoporosis? You need to be getting a healthy amount of potassium and calcium too!0 -

I too am having the same issue with proteins. Here's what I understand and if I am wrong please correct me. I am 5 feet tall, I am restricted to a wheelchair, so my calorie intake is 1200. When you eat protein it helps with metabolic rates, and developing muscle. So in my eyes if youre going over your protein its not entirely a bad thing. Try to stay with lean meats like turkey breast, chicken breast, rabbit, moose, venison, and fish. Fish for example is high in protein but has hardly any fat so going over your protein quota while eating fish is probably okay. I am not a dietician, but I know from personal experience that eating lean meats and going over my proteins I still loose weight. I have lost 4 lbs so far in the last week. Now some of you might say that is dangerous, however my eating habits were horrible. All I did was change what I was eating. I am no longer drinking soda of any kind, water only. I drink green tea, and some fruit juices. If it cant be steamed or baked I do not eat it. If it has a batter on it, I do not eat it. As for side dishes, I only eat it if it comes from the ground. No more processed foods. I eat quite a bit still, but better food choices. When I want to sit and snack while I watch tv, I choose a pomegranate rather than a bag of chips. When I am feeling hungry I grab a pickle, its only 10 calories (salt is a little high though). So, you can stay within your 1200 cal daily quota if you just make good food choices. And don't really worry about the protein unless its not a lean mean.0
