A bit embarassing....

So, my goal is to get in amazing shape so I can go on vacation and look hot in my bikini. What most people don't know is that I used to be a size 14/16 a few years ago and went down to a size 8/10. Now I have put on some weight and want to lose it, my goal is another 10lbs by August 23rd when I go to the Dominican Republic.

I am embarassed to say i ahve gross loose skin on my legs and it giggles and looks disgusting and I have cellulite too. What can I do by then so I am not ashamed other than surgery. PLEASE HELP, I am getting desperate!

Congratulations on your previous weight loss. You are young so you should be able to lose the extra 10 pounds by August when you go on vacation. As for the loose skin and cellulite. . .just keep exercising. . .and what ever happens. . .wear that bikini with pride!! You are so lovely, no one is going to notice a little cellulite!

I know everyone is different but for me I've been hitting the Elliptical hard. It is a huge workout for my legs and they look so much better already! You know when you wear shorts and sit down, all the cellulite looks 100 times worse? Mine is going away finally. I workout at least 30 minutes on it and shoot for everyday.

It's not really embarassing, most (almost all!) of us deal with it. Hell, tabloids make money off of it on celebs! It's nature.

Keep working out for fat burning and I'd suggest work on some toning too, for the "jigglies." All those standard leg work outs that are posted on here you can search for. Aren't there some skin firming lotions too?

Also, just a thought, but could you be a bit harder on yourself than necessary? We tend to be our worst critics. :)

I think it depends on what you already do as to what will work the best...your body needs the mix up to make the change!

Although my lower half has never really bothered me (and excess weight just makes a bee-line for my tummy!) I too also have a little cellulite on my bum (but name a woman that says she doesn't!! I've seen it on the super-skinnies at the gym...I wasn't peaking honest! hehe)

However, once I started doing more running, this has drastically reduced - so that's what worked for me.

Also, while I would never say a product is going to reduce the problems (yeah...use this, you'll look like Eva Longoria, wouldn't every woman be buying it?!) but a product that really helped last summer was St Ives Healthy Brilliance Renew & Glow moisturiser. It smells really nice and you can almost feel the firming effects as soon as you put it on! Plus it was £6, so unlike some of the "specialist" creams it won't bankrupt you either!! I can't find it in Boots or Superdrug this year though..I hope they didn't stop doing it!! (Amazon, eBay etc still sell it)

    build and tone your muscles!
This winter I was thinking how gross my once super hot legs look - dimpled, "cellulitey"... kept moving when I stopped...

well, I hate squats and lunges. I did them anyway - walking lunges, 20 each leg, every day. Prisoner squats, as many as you can bang out in 1 minute. Of course - on top of all the cardio I currently do. I'm wearing short shorts! I may be a size 14 still, but my legs are hot, and super defined!

Agreed! Squats hurt like hell while you're doing them (and for the next couple of days!) but they make a major difference!

Also, if you use the eliptical or treadmill, change the incline and resistance every few days.

    GOOD LUCK!

Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD (only 20 minutes a day) will make a BIG difference. It is seriously worth the $9 investment and will tone you up like crazy. You'll lose a lot of inches and really improve your overall strength. I'm losing all of that jiggle really nicely with this workout, and you see results really quickly.

That 20 minutes each day will kick your butt :) Add cardio to that, and you should be in a good spot.

I've got the same problem. I see cellulite even on the super-buff size 0 girls at the gym.

Anyhoo, not to hijack the thread, but does the 30 Day Shred have a lot of jumping around in it? (example..jumping/jogging in place, running in place, jumping jacks, jump squats, etc?) I hear so many good things about the Shred and I can totally do 20 minutes a day to give my swimming a boost, but I CAN NOT do anything that requires weight bearing jumps.

I want to Shred without "shredding" what's left of my knee and ankle joints!

Yes it does have some in every level.... it's the cardio part of the workout.

    Hey!

There is jumping jacks and high knee kicks etc. but there's the modified moves whereas you don't have to jump just move around in place. :D

Prisoner squat - you can google it or youtube it, but basically a squat with your arms crossed behind your head (like in a sit up)

Yes, a lot of it is plyometrics based - a ton of jumping.

I use a recumbent bike for my leg work twice a week at the gym. I set it on level 4 hills for 12 minutes and the hills are really hard! I try to speed up too so It's a battle for 30 seconds when the hills come up. I can totally feel a difference in my leg muscles since I started. I also took up running, but you can use the elliptical on a high resistance too. For me, the weight is coming off my waist much faster than my thighs so I'm trying to do everything I can to even it out. Slowly but surely, it's working.

I can only recommend checking out some of the CUTE swim skirt bottoms on places like Newport News.com. I have one and it's still sexy and sassy but hides that lil bit of cellulite I don't want hanging all about :)

It's not that much. 30 Day Shred is 3 mins weights, 2 mins cardio, and 1 min abs, repeat 3 times. The cardio section is the only part that has jumping/high impact excersises but as someone else mentioned they provide alternative ways to do those exercises to minimize the impact on your knees. I would say give it a try; it's only $9 and would be money well spent.

Yeah, it's not that much to spend; I might give it a try. I tried the EA Active for the Wii, but to even get a decent calorie burn I would have to do the walk/run for 5-10 minutes.
