Outside Activities to Burn Calories?

I do childcare & now that the weather is good I plan to be outside as much as possible with my little ones. Today I had them all out & they were playing with hoola hoops, bubbles, frisbees, bikes, scooters etc but I was at a loss of something I could do that would still allow me to supervise them properly but actually burn calories. I tried the hoola hoop & suck lol I did attempt to use the kids skipping rope but its too short for me so I am going to look into getting a larger one tonight.

Any other suggestions of things I could do that could burn some calories? It doesn't necessarily have to include the kiddies but does need to keep me where I can see them. I appreciate any & all suggestions, I find as the weather gets better I don't really want to be inside so I am trying to come up with ideas I can do regularly since I have the kids 5 days a week.

Thanks!

scavenger hunt with the kids in the park, or hide things before hand for them to find. it's not much more calories than just walking around, but it's more interesting, and they will love it.

    riding a bike.

when you're in better shape, sprinting is fantastic. and can be done with them.

Honestly working with kids you're getting lots of exercise already, constantly on your feet.
just do what strength training you can and keep a small deficit, and you'll be fine.

What ages do you have? I would play active games with them--tag, relay races.... If they are younger and not up for that, do a circuit--jumping jacks or jump rope, lunges, squats, kickboxing activities, high knees, plyometric exercises...

Children love to dance...when its warm enough, set up a sprinkler and go wild! Gardening is another activity my l.o. loves, but it requires a LOT of supervision and don't know how that would be as a group activity. You could take them to the park and do an obstacle course (as a group in a line). Decide who leads and follows...decide on a pattern to go quickly from one obstacle through to another and make sure everyone cheers everyone else on. Have fun! :flowerforyou:

Actually---did you know that just caring for children makes you burn AT LEAST 100 calories more per hour than you would burn sitting behind a desk (and the bigger you are, the more you burn). You're probably thinking, "Ah ha! That's why I'm so exhausted at the end of the day!"
