I've lost 43 pounds. I started a year ago. While I was losing I was at around 1200-1300 cal per day. Now I'm on maintenance at 1740. I try to do something active every day. I love the Jillian Michael's videos.

I'm a little over 5'5. I haven't reached my goal yet. I got close to it, but then I went to college... Anyway I eat about 1250 calories a day, and it works for me :D
Sorry, I can't say what my maintenance is, but I'd like to hear what other people here have to say that theirs is.....

Thanks, that's a really helpful answer. Can I just ask, when you say at maintenance is that net calories or intake only?

I'll bite. I am 5'5 1/2". Started at 145 and my original goal was 130. reached that and now I would like to sculpy my physique a bit more so I am not really concerned about the scale but I imagine that I will not try to go lower than 125 as I have an athletic build and a medium frame and lower than that would probably look unhealthy. So, I originally started at 1200 but I was starving (I work out 5+ days a week for 2 hour sessions)! Upped it to 1350. Then started really researching BMR/ TDEE and realized I could eat way more and still lose! Not only could I eat more, but I should eat more since I exercize so much. Now my goal is at 1500 a day plus I usually eat back some amount of my workout calories so I net around 1500 daily. Still loosing weight steadily...take that 1200 calories (no offense to anyone that it works for)!

I've changed my GW 3 times now so I've surpassed my original goal but not eating the "maintenance level" yet. Basically once I started losing I realised I COULD actually do this so readjusted my goals to reflect that :)

    Height: 5'6
    SW: 165
    CW: 131.5
    GW: 125

I started @ 1200 calories but then realised it just WASN'T enough so I bumped it up gradually. Currently I net 1710, and I'm still losing :) How much I intake depends on how much I exercise. I am very active at work though and constantly moving so my activity level is high cause of that. 1710 might be too high for some people, or too low for others depending, but it's still working for me.

Edit: age is 26 and I've been working on this since the end of Sept :)

I ate 1550 plus my exercise calories when losing.
I am in maintenance now and eat a straight 2100-2200.

I'm not at goal just yet but I'm not too far off. I aim for 1400 daily, on my dieticians advice, but I'm usually a little under that (I do mean a little)..I've been at it for 8 months so far and though fairly slow found it easy and enjoyable even. I too would love to hear what people are eating at maintenance.

I'm 5'5" - I found that eating 1400+/- is a pretty good place for me to maintain my goal weight of 120, which I'm not at right now but I have been before. That includes working out, walking, cardio, lifting weights 1 hr/day, 5 day/wk

I turned 43 on 1/5 and began mfp on 1/7. I began at 219 lbs. My daily calorie goal is 1500. I am not exercising. I have lost 22 lbs thus far. My goal is 175 and then I will reevaluate.

I'm 5'6 and at my goal weight now of 135. I started at 245 and ate 12-1300 calories per day for the first 6 months or so, and then for the last 4-5 months I've been eating between 14-1600 calories a day. I haven't started maintenance yet, but it tells me that I can eat 1830 calories a day for that...

You look fantastic!!! I hope to get rid of this gut. I'm 28 and 5'5 as well OP and I've lost about 40 pounds in the past year. But I was pregnant and had GD so the healthy eating and walking helped me lose weight while pregnant and I lost a lot of baby weight. I was 210 pre-pregnancy and now I'm 169 post pregnancy. At my heaviest I was 250. Really wanting to work hard and not end back up in the 200's. So for not quite answering your question OP but I'm also interested in knowing
    :)

At about 5'6" and 112 lbs or so, my maintenance seems to be around the 1700-1800 mark. That's with a sedentary job, but ~1 hr walking and 2-3 very short, intense strength workouts per week.
  • Congratuations! You look amazing!

I am 5'5", 52 years old and I can eat about 2000 calories to maintain at 126-128 lbs. I exercise and have a fairly active job. My best weight loss was doing a zigzag diet, less than 800 calories every other day, over 1500 on the eating days with the goal being less than 1400 a day averaged over a weeks time. I started my weight loss starving myself, like most people do. I lost weight but not in a mentally healthy way, if you know what I mean. The body doesn't like to be starved and will rebel, lol.

Hi, I am 29 years old and I am 5'5". Oh, and I am a mother of 5. I started mfp at 155 my daily calorie goal was between 1250 and 1300 and I ate back my exercise calories. I hit my goal of 127 and maintained for 5 months eating around 1500 - 1600 plus eating back some of my exercise calories. In January of this year I decided to try eat more to weigh less using tdee - 20%. I lost another 4 lbs. Right now I am holding steady at 123-124 and I eat anywhere from 1700 - to 2000 calories a day. Hope this helps.

5'5", 24yo, 122lbs - lost 10lbs eating 1200, lost 20lbs eating 1500 and not logging weekends (so probably 1700 average for the week). Now I'm maintaining around 2000+ cals, running 10-12 miles a week and lifting for 40 mins three times a week.
