Running vs. Biking

I started C25K about 4 weeks ago and at first my legs hurt because of my shoes so I bought some Vibram Fivefingers which are amazing and really helped that problem go away. Until now. I went for a walk/C25K as per my usual routine of every 2-3 days I'll do this. But the last couple times I've gone out my ankle is KILLING me and my knees have started hurting again. I literally have not changed a thing in what I've been doing and this was not the first day of a new week for C25K. And I've been trying to rest my legs by propping them up and as little pressure as possible.

I'm pretty bummed I may not be the runner I always wanted to be, but is there really anything that can be done?? I love biking and do that also occasionally. Should I just bike more and give up running altogether? And just do walking and biking?

Pains like that are pretty normal for the first few months after you start running. They will go away eventually. One thing that probably will help is to ensure your running form is good. Google "Good Form Running".

Biking is a great exercise also and since it is low impact you can do it on the days between runs without giving up running.

I started running and ran( no pun intended) into a similiar problem. It seems runners are always getting injured from time to time, whether it be shin splints, plantat fasciitis, knee problems ect. I love walking and hiking and it keeps me injury free for the most part. I switch it up with biking as well and love it. I would just stick with walking, powerwalking, hiking and biking. Howver there are options out there to minimilize injury from running and get more enjoyment out of it if you want to continue to run. Its all about form. Look into minimilist running, its not just the shoes but the technique. Search CHI RUNNING and it will explain it all. Good luck.
