I'm going to try it tonight. Ran it through the MFP recipe calculator and found it to be 277 calories per serving (2 servings per recipe) WITHOUT the rice included. It's still a calorie bargain0

Wow this is what I am making for dinner tonight!
It's already made in fact, and sitting on the stove. Just got to reheat and will throw in some spinach. No rice. I believe it's called chana masala. Also making some tandoori chicken (on the grill, not in tandoori oven) to go with it.0 -
This is a pretty authentic recipe for chana masala (not curry) but just one thing to make it better - brown the onions (low heat for a while) and then puree them using an immersion blender. Then add the ginger and garlic and brown all of it together, then continue with the recipe. I also probably use more of all the spices - I don't measure but our food is generally very flavorful, you can't have too much of the spices . I would DEFINITELY use more ginger and garlic, maybe 5-6 cloves or garlic and 1-2tbsp of ginger.
To make this chana (chickpea) curry, add tomato paste instead of tomatoes, and like a cup or 2 of water. Simmer that for a while and serve over basmati rice or with roti.0 -
Made this tonight for dinner. I think it had too much cinnamon though. Next time I'll cut down on the measurements or just eliminate it all together.0
