I will be buying new (to me) car this weekend. I have narrowed the search to 3 cars, but I'm having a difficult time choosing.

1) 2010 Volvo S80 T6 AWD

2) 2011 Audi A3 Quatro

3) 2012 Mini Cooper S Countryman All4

Cost, insurance and fuel are not real big issues because they are fairly comparable between the three.

Out of those three, the Audi.

The Volvo is quite a bit larger vehicle than the other two. I would think you would be looking at an S40.
Curious, living in SoCal, why you want something with AWD? Go up the ski resorts often?

    Volvo sedan: Grandpa's here!
Audi Quattro: Middle-aged business man, still has a little "cool" left in him.
    Mini Cooper: Insufferably pompous prick.

I'd go with the Audi, personally. :)

vovlo, have tested 2/3, if the mini is like a smart, the volvo is a much better ride, definitely better control and feel when driving and all around far better safety wise. thats my opinion.

  • How long do you plan to keep the car? What are the estimated annual repair costs for each of these cars? Estimated cost of ownership of the life of each of these cars? Do you need to consider ease of parking? FYI, a friend of mine had a Mini and it was a bumpy ride. Good luck!

I don't really like any of them but I can tell you that a friend that is a girl had a new Audi A3 Quatro and it has many problems. The mechanics also agree.

I'm pretty sure you're kldding but in the event you aren't....don't do it! I just had my 9 year old Sonata take a dump. I drove it new off the lot and took such good care of it. I ended up having to dump so much money into it to keep it running it wasn't even funny, then the other day the head gasket blew. My husband took me to the car lot and bought me a 2013 Toyota Camry SE. Such a nice ride I can't even tell you. And I will be VERY surprised if it fails us! (again, I'm pretty sure you are kidding here, but I thought Hyundai's had come a long way too. They haven't).

I agree, problem is that the only one I like is WRX. Great for me, but the wife can't and won't drive a stick.

So get it with an automatic. There is a CVT model coming soon.

The Audi is most versatile being a larger hatch. The Mini is most fun and easy to park. The Volvo is... um... they have really comfy seats.
