Insanity vs. Turbo Fire

I'm starting to think about my next step after P90X. I was going to do a second round of it but I'm getting kind of bored with it and was thinking about Insanity or Turbo Fire. According to the beachbody site it takes a few weeks to ship to Canada so I want to have it ordered by late August or early September.

Which would you recommend? I like cardio but I am not co-ordinated and am not a strong dancer. I hate step classes because I always fall behind and can't keep up.

I did P90X a few times and also Insanity which just completed about 7 weeks ago.

I love P90X. I like to mix the cardio to keep myself from getting bored. I am actually doing P90X plus now which is the next level up from P90X. They incorporate P90X workouts into it. So, I am doing a mixture of P90X Plus, with Insanity and some of the Chalean Extreme cardio as well.

Insanity is super intense... If this is your first round of P90X, I would go with Turbo Fire. Shaun T really kills you with Insanity. Is doable but hard. Now weights, just pure, fast, insane, cardio.

I did a round of Insanity in January, after 3 rounds of P90X, and about died every day. I truly did get into great shape, but one thing I missed was strength training.

Also...I absolutely HATED the warm-up. IMO, the warm-up itself is as hard as PlyoX!!!

I'm currently doing a ChaLean Extreme/Turbo Fire 20-week hybrid and am LOVING it.

Go with Turbo Fire... I posted this on Friday ....I copy and paste it, see below...;-)...:

I completed Insanity last weekend (Yay) but there is one workout which haunts me in my sleep!! … lol. I was asked to repost this… this is a semi repost! So….you guys know Shaun T. of Insanity? I have to be honest here if it wasn’t for the reflection in the mirror, viewing my results, I wouldn't have been consistent. The s^~t he’s doing to me…beating my body into shape…well, that’s the good part….. it’s how he does it. Right now, my body isn’t even speaking to me … something about I’m must think it's a punching bag..… and mumbling about 'body abuse'. I’ve been exercising for years, I’ve never work this hard in my entire life...I have a love/hate relationship with Insanity… I hate the workout BUT love the results. Last week, I posted about this one particular workout, Insanity - Max Interval Plyo… hardest workout ever!! ..I still hate that workout!! Shaun T. is INSANE!!! Where does he get his energy…and when did/does he have time to invent these new pretzels positions? Max Interval Plyo is LOADED with push-ups!! All kinds of push-ups, left side push-ups, right side push-ups, kick back like a donkey push-ups, butt up in the air push-ups, slap your body up like a clothes pin then drop your body down push-ups, why you on the floor so long push-ups (I invented that one), why you not getting up push-ups ( I invented that one too), why you not moving push-ups (you guessed it, I invented that one too!), dance across the floor push-ups….I was waiting for the sit on the floor do nothing push-ups (I included that one anyway!).... and press "pause" push- ups...Exercisediva invented that one…lol. Like I said it's a love/hate relationship and I do plan on doing a 2nd round of Insanity (Spring 2011)....lol...no pain no gain.

    What is ChaLean Extreme like?

I've done P90X, Insanity and I'm now doing my own hybrid of ChaLEAN Extreme and Turbo Fire.
I really like ChaLEAN Extreme, the workouts are shorter than P90X and I personally prefer CLX over P90X because I can always throw in something else as well. I've only done Burn Circuit 1, 2 & 3 so far but you lift really heavy and slow for 10-12 reps and you just move on to the next exercise. She also does some "extreme" moves (I guess that's what you call it) where you do it really slow for 3 reps. Then she also throws in some push ups as well.

Don't get me wrong I love P90X because it has really helped me lose a lot of fat after my 3rd baby but I got bored and dreaded it because it was so long.

Insanity is intense but I'm glad I got to experience it and it has really helped me with my endurance.

Turbo Fire is a lot of FUN!!! I absolutely love it. It is a bit dancey but I previewed them before I did it and once you get the name of the moves down you'll be good to go.

    That's just my 2 cents

Turbo Fire is the one to get when you want to just mix things up.

Insanity is the one to get when you're finding P90X too easy AND want a break from strength training.

I stayed away from ChaLean Extreme for a really long time because for some stupid reason, I thought it was going to be 'too easy' after 3 rounds of P90X and then Insanity. WRONG! I absolutely LOVE it. I love that she works two body parts in one move, I love that the workouts are 45 minutes long, and I love that I was pushed to lift as heavy as I could because I got a LOT SMALLER doing ChaLean Extreme.

I did 2.5 rounds of Insanity and clearly I am a huge fan but my body and I aren't speaking cause it really kicks your butt. I am hoping to buy Turbo Fire by end of August to start that in September along with doing Zumba. Insanity really is a lot of plyometrics, push ups, drills, etc. Its an amazing program that will make you feel pain in places you didn't know could, haha. Its awesome if you are committed to it. You will NEVER get bored with Insanity but will want to kill someone

    Ok, my choices are now:

    ChaLean Extreme
    Turbo Jam
    Insanity

I'm leaving toward Insanity, and I acknowledge that it is HARD. I think I can get through it, expecially since the infomercials show people less fit than me getting great results. What are people's thoughts on that? Same with P90X, it's supposed to be for people who are already fit...but they show before/after pics of people who were overweight to begin with.

A lot of people think that because Insanity is crazy cardio that they're more likely to lose weight. But if you go on the Insanity thread, you wont find many people with dramatic weight loss results. Some report no change at all and some kind of gain in the beginning and level back off by the end. I ended up losing weight during the recovery week but I seem to be in the minority and I don't think I'd still be at a loss if I were doing it every day (completely removed 2 max workouts out of the week to get me to finish).

You already have P90X so you can always fall back on a hybrid which I think is the best way to use Insanity for weight loss. I still vote for Turbo Fire though. The concept is similar but HIIT workouts are not scheduled back-to-back. You alternate with various other forms of cardio which allows for proper recovery for people who are not in the elite athlete category.

ChaLean Extreme is more strength training which is good if you want to keep up heavy weight lifting without all those pullups in P90X. It's different, more dynamic moves that work out both the arms and legs at the same time. It's often under-rated around here but it is a good program.

Tomorrow will be my 3rd week with Insanity. It is really kicking my butt. I enjoy it and feel great after a workout. I'm glad to read the info on ChaLean Extreme. I was thinking about trying that next once I finish Insanity. Would a hybrid of CLX and Insanity work?

Yes! I absolutely love ChaLean Extreme. I saw great results from it! You could do the 3 weight workouts and alternate the cardio w/ Insanity or TurboFire.

This is such a great topic. I wanted to know which of the two to get also. I now have made my decision to get Turbo Fire. I sort of knew that anyway lol. I love Turbo Jam and already have ChaLean Extreme. So next up is the Fiya!!!
