No, I never have, but after my first insanity fit test, I did consider a trip to the hospital for an IV

I cried during a VERY quiet session of yoga once.

Crying doesn't necessarily have to be linked with emotions (happy/sad).
Sometimes it can merely be a physical response. Obviously your body needed it.

^Agreed! I've cried on several occasions, but only after a particular workout. For whatever reason, 30 Day Shred Level 2 brings me to tears the moment it stops and enters the cool down. No emotions attached, nothing particular running through my mind, so I can't explain why…but my body needs to let out a short cry.

It doesn't happen with the other levels, and I've done more intense workouts…so who knows. You're not alone and there's nothing wrong with it! Good for you giving it your all…and for sharing!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I cry a lot when I'm working out with my trainer and I cried Friday at hot yoga. Most of the time mine is frustration, if i'm having problems doing something.

I have never had this happen to me, but I kind of wish it would. I feel like if you work yourself to the point of crying, you are really cleansing your body and mind!

I know this may sound stupid.. but has anyone ever gotten emotional after a workout? Twice now... once after the Insanity fit test, and just now after the Billy Blanks Bootcamp... when it was finished I was just uncontrollably crying. I have no friggin clue what sparks this b/c I have so many thoughts going through my head... glad it's over with, glad I actually finished it, etc etc. Please tell me I'm not the only one..

You aren't the only one. It happened to me back in March when my health journey began. After an 8 year absence from physical activity, I was able to last 20 minutes on the elliptical. I just teared up because I realized that I'm back on track after all this time.

You are not the only one. Means you worked your @ss off, be proud. No shame.

Means you beat some stress outta your head. H3ll yeah.

S/N: I would suggest saving it for the car if you're a dude, I imagine you would get as @ss kicking for crying in the men's locker

I find it interesting that it's women who are responding with something along the lines of "it's totally normal, it's not estrogen because it happened to me."

And by interesting I mean hilarious.

At first I thought it might not be crying but might be some of your awesome leaking out. You know, that could be a possibility if your workout was summiting Everest or winning the Indy 500 or a UFC Championship. Maybe setting a powerlifting record or completing a 100 mile trail race. But then I saw that it was Tae Bo and the Insanity Fit Test and my first thought no longer applied.

It's not stupid. You're experiencing a release. Even if working out feels good, it's stressful, and it can unlock a lot of tension that you carry around with you.

Bumping for later. I haven't cried, but I sometimes get angry during a workout. It usually lasts for like an hour, then I start to feel better. Normal?

OP, I'm so glad you posted this.

Despite getting misty-eyed at a showing of Star Trek last week, I'm not normally very emotional. That said, I wish I could say I've only cried twice during/after a workout. I think it's a combination of factors for most people. Frustration over form or weight during the workout. Maybe low blood sugar, especially if you're working out in the morning sans breakfast, as many people do. Not getting enough sleep the night before could exacerbate all of this, aslo. I know some people have mentioned coming down off of the "high" of the workout, which can be intense. Still other people have mentioned being concerned about what others think about them (because they're out of shape) when they're working out.
I think these are all solid reasons that might contribute to weeping, but it's certainly not a definitive list. Regardless, I think you can rest assured that you're not alone.

Dude! ABSOLUTELY NOT its totally normal to cry!!!! 2 years ago after the Chicago Rock & Roll 1/2 marathon I cried! It was a huge achievement for me! 13 FUKKKENNN MILES! In 2.5 hours. I remember crossing the finish line tired as all hell and teary eyed and emotional.......... I collected my medal.......................I walked around looking for my friends and when I found one I embraced and just started crying like a baby..........I DID it. I dedicated that race to someone very special thats not with us anymore. I was gonna finish even if I had to crawl!!
    It felt good.

My first thought when I saw the thread title was, "Ah--30 Day Shred, Level 2." Now I see it's about something else entirely. Never mind.

A couple times after an emotional run or weights session; usually when I hit the wall, keep going, and literally give everything.

Yep, done that, but only once from emotion. A time or two else I cried from pain (injured knee).

I think two weeks ago I went for a run with my best friend. She is an officer in the Navy and weighs 145 lbs and can run a mile in 8 minutes. I ran with her I thought I was keeping up with her but she was slowind down for me every step was death and I kept setting small goals. I came around a corner and realized that just 7 years ago I could run at her speed and I could keep up with her and challenge her and that I am no where near what I was at one point anymore. I cried out of anger and ran faster. She galloped effortlessly in front of me and she was a whole block ahead of me and I did not stop. I even sprinted for a whole block just to get 1/2 a block behind her and then she turned and stopped waited for me and we jogged the last part. I got home and I was dying I was dying! I was crying and dying but I did not die and I made it. 1.5 miles in 18 minutes. I felt so happy! That day was so worth every tear.

Only once for me. In one of the Max Plyo workouts in Insanity. With about 4 moves left before the cooldown I told myself I wasn't going to take any breaks. I pushed through and when it was over I sort of leaned against the wall sucking wind and started laughing without really knowing why I was laughing and the tears started coming.

    You're not the only one.
