How to cope with a gain after reaching target weight

Last year I lost six stone with a combination of diet and exercise yet in January I have been travelling and since coming back have realised I have put on a staggering two stone. Abroad all diets and healthy eating habits flew out of the window and now I face the cold harsh reality of the scales. I guess calories seemed a long way away. I feel low at the prospect of having to start afresh again so soon after maintaining my goal weight. Pictures of a slimmer me at christmas makes me want to cry. Unable to kickstart my diet I wish I had the motivation as all bad habits have returned with a vengeance,

Youve got this. Just get back into things and the weight will start coming off.

I did the same thing. I lost 55 lbs and then gained 15 lbs back all within 9 lbs of my goal weight. It was hard to face and I was very disappointed with myself, but I knew I had to get back to logging and exercising before I gained it all back and then some. Try to focus on what you have learned from this experience and remember that you were able to lose it before, so you can do it again!

    Do you travel a lot?

If so, time to sit down and make a plan. I am on the road and making progress using leangains, my TRX, a speed rope, and some resistance band.

I know, it is much, much harder to stay fit on the road, but it is possible.

When you say you are going on a diet it presupposes that at some point you are going to stop dieting, which is what you did.
It would be better to learn about healthier eating and making better choices as you change your lifestyle. Then you can do as you wish without putting on all that weight again.
Good luck with losing the extra you have gained. This site is very helpful.

i had same problem. i got into the best shape i was ever in, and then ended up having to take another culinary job again. working around all that crazy food everyday was too much, especially when it comes to menu and recipe design. you have to make sure everything is up to par. staring at cheese cake everyday, and other home made desserts was to much also. need to get back to that comfort zone that you created when you were doing good. even if it takes drastic life changes again. i had to quit my job, and this time for good! lol im searching for something else now after devoting 17 years in the profession. it just doesnt fit into my healthy life style any more. and i refuse to sacrifice my health for work. out of sight out of mind for me, untill its been long enough for me to be strong about it. hope you can get it back again. im back to eating healthy everyday and workin out hard again. feels great. maybe time for some changes, i wish you the best of luck!

I know exactly how this feels......almost four years ago...I set out on my first journey.....after almost a year, I lost almost 100 pounds and I kept it off for a little over 2 years. LAST YEAR, was the year from hell......I gained every single pound back plus a little extra for good measure. It was one of the most devastating things I've ever gone through and to be honest, I still struggle with trying to get 'real' self back!

I've learned so far, it takes patience, consistency, and a huge support system! I'm here to support!!

I lost 45 lbs and gained back 8, so I know how you feel. I realized that I need to watch what I eat and not let it get away from myself for the rest of my life to maintain. I didn't think a little here and a little there would really affect my weight much, but it does!
