I received lots of good advice from my parents, but one thing stuck with me. It was a little thing at the time, but it expanded to how I feel about my life in general. They always suggested I take my own car when going out with my friends. That way I was sure to be able to take care of my own way home. I can remember a few evenings that were just miserable when I was depending on others for rides. It expanded into - you are responsible for your own life, don't depend on others to take care of all your needs.0

All from my dad. I always HATED hearing "Life isn't fair," but man, it's so true, and I'm glad I was set up for realistic expectations instead of expecting the world to cater to me or what was "fair." It just isn't.0 -
