So I found a bra size calculator. I have had some doubts about my bras and the way they fit. I am not going to go get measured because I don't really want to strip down and show my busted can of biscuits looking self to anyone. Well, anyhoo.... This bra size calculator has me at a size 40A! 40 A? Does that even exist? I am sure I have never seen it in stores..... Ladies, if you know your size would you check it against this calculator?

    No, it's wrong. The measurement below your boobs in inches is your band size. Then for the cup size it's a letter for every inch your boobs are over your band size. 1 inch = A cup, 2 inches = B cup, 3 Inches = C cup, etc.

    This was all discussed at length on this recent thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/977190-ladies-bra-size-measurements

    It came out about right for me. I was sized just the other day as either a 32d or 34c and this came back as a 34c. If you aren't down to go and get sized your best bet is just to go and try a ton of bras on in a variety of sizes...I've found that my size varies a ton depending on the bra.
  • It's wrong. I just checked, too, and I've been properly sized many times.
  • No it's not. I'm a 36 DD, and this calculator put me at a 34 C.

    I know my bra size is correct because I have been measure at La Perla, VS, and at a store that makes custom lingerie.

    I can tell just by looking at your picture that you are at least a B.

    Oo, this came back scary wrong for me. It had me at a 38 b, I am usually a 34dd or 32 d. I've had that problem with calculators before. If I wore a 38 my boobs would fall right out the bottom. I know I have a small ribcage but wider above bust/shoulders. Is that your build too? I say if you don't want to show anyone, go to walmart and try on every size until you find one that is your right size. But the ladies at Victoria's secret (look for the older more experienced looking ones, not the teeny boppers) have always been super nice when they helped size me. Good luck!

    No, that has me at a 36AA, and I have been measured at Victoria Secret to be a 34B, but in actuality because of the shape, only 34D will fit just right.

    I measured women for bras professionally for years. I can't remember what ANYONE I measured looks like. Also most places will measure you over a bra if it isn't padded. The best advice I can give to you based on the common mistakes saw was women selecting a band size that was too small and a cup size that was too large.

    I have tried several calculators, including one I found in a thread here, and they have me at everything from a 36B to a 40DD. Hmm.... I guess it's time to just try them on as suggested.

    Just from your profile picture, I would start at a 38 B.

    To start with measure with your bra on (non padded, with decent lift). If the girls are not lifted you will not get a good band or cup measurement. Next stand near a mirror so that you can ensure you are level. Under the boobs is band so when you messure just leave one finger under the tape. Don't pull tight enough to cut into you but be sure you are snug. Whatever it reads this is your band. I don't recommend adding unless you know the bra you want runs small or you are on an odd number. Next measure across the fullest part of your breast. The difference between is your cup. Sometimes if you carry your weight in your back wing area it can skew the results a bit but if this is the case you just have to try stuff on anyway. Anyway 40A would be a measure of 40 around and 41 at the fullest. I am looking at your pic and that is not a possibility. I fitted bras for Lane Bryant almost everyday for 9 years. If you walked in I would have you try a 40B in some of the push up stuff and 38C if you were interested in more of the casual bras.

    40 band 38 band
    41=A B
    42=B C
    43=C D
    44=D DD

    Judging from your profile picture, unless you are wearing one of those new bras that make your boobs look 2 cup sizes bigger... there's NO FREAKING WAY you are a 40 A. No way. To show it's inaccuracy, I just tried the link you posted and it said I was a 36 C!!!! LMAO, I am 32 FF a 36 band size would give me no support! Try this one it's at least closer for me :)

    Have you ever been sized before? You don't go in there 1/2 naked, it's really not as scary as it sounds :) If they use a measuring tape then you wear your bra while this happens. Or if you would feel more comfortable (although not as accurate) take measurements at home and tell the woman what your measurements were. Measurements are only used as guidelines anyways as you can be one size in one bra, and a different size in another bra :)

    Where were you sized? If I walk into La Senza right now I guarantee they would try to fit me into a 40 DD (which they have done before when I was younger lol). Sadly many "bra specialists" seem to be trained on how to make the numbers work so that my boobs can fit in the bra, but I'm given no support :/ Even Victoria Secret, La Vie en Rose, Sears... all the same cause they don't carry my size :( Best advice would be to go to an actual lingerie store that carries a wide range of sizes (yes they are expensive!) and ask for a fitting :) You don't have to buy anything and they will give you a much more accurate sizing :) Also, if they don't have your size, many of those stores can order sizes in!

    You were very close with your estimate. I have bras in several sizes and none of them really fit well. I avoid bra shopping because I am sick of ill fitting bras. I plan to make a trip to get measured. It seems to be the best advice I have seen. Time to suck it up!
