Have rappers discovered the fountain of youth?

If like me you're a hip hop fan (or even if you aren't), I'm sure you'll notice that a lot rappers seem to have discovered the fountain of youth. Rappers, at least most of them don't really look their age. A lot of them look much younger than they actually are.

Here are a few examples: Bear in mind that these are fairly recent photos of the rappers taken within the last two to three years.

Jay Z - 43

Dr Dre - 48

Ice T- 55

Krs One- 47

Eminem- 40

LL Cool J- 45

Common- 41

So, what's your take on this.

    It's called money.
  • To me Eminem looks his age, that said Dr. Dre looks easily 10 years younger than he actually is.

getting paid tons of money and not having to do any real work probably keeps you looking a bit younger.

Darker skinned men and women always have better skin and look younger I think and most of them are. I'm 47 and no one believes I have a 25 yr old since I look way younger. I can tell you my fountain of youth but then I'd have to kill you.

Working a manual labour job for 40+ years or being LL cool j........hmm I think I know who's more stressed out.

Also you missed out pharrell williams who actually looks younger than he did 10 years ago.

So let me get this straight. Me back in the days working over 100+ hours as a clerk in a ghetto, getting shot at (literally) and constantly have to bicker with customers who were mostly drug dealers, druggies and/or hookers, wasn't hard work because it wasn't a manual labour? I mean, mainly I just pushed the button and took money (at least, thats how most of the people who haven't done this job sees it).

I'm not here to defend the celebrities but... they do live under stress too. We might not be able to appreciate it but money isn't everything. They are constantly harrassed. Constantly called a loser, fake, whatever. They have to socialize a lot more than most of us as a part of their "job description". They have to stay current with the show biz, gotta come up with new material and means to entertain.

Most of that is what managers and PR people are for. The "talent" is just a pawn in the game.

Oh, and all these guys look old to me, because they are all with my age group.

There is no doubt that some of these guys (Ice T and LL) to be specific have some superior genetics or something going on but for the most part you have to take into consideration that they have make up artist, and photo shop on their sides more often than not... This is true for so many people that we see in the media today. But over all there is all manner of things they can be doing to keep their appearance up. Facials, botox etc. A healthy diet, just saying no.. etc all of it keeps you younger longer.. some only appearance wise others in all aspects. :)

It's not botox....Black people just age better...no lie...they often look 10 years younger anyways. And men don't botox.....also being famous is probably one of the hardest jobs ever...yea, you get money, but people are always interfering with your personal, social, and fun life making it hard to live happily.

My mom is 51 and you'd swear she's in her mid-30s. People often mistake her for my sister or girlfriend when they see us together. My dad isn't too bad either. He's 55 and he could still pass for early 40s. I'm 31 and I've passed for 25, 23 and even as low as 20. Good genes are part of it, but I believe a healthy lifestyle plays a bigger role. Point being? A healthy lifestyle is the fountain of youth!

    please.

Must be tough knowing you could never work another day in your life and still live comfortably.

If you talking about people like Kim K then they aren''t getting any sympathy from me. Their whole existence is based on making money from being in the media they they want to turn round and complain about how intrusive they are lololol

Atleast the guys in this thread actually have some talent.

Here are a few more examples of rappers who don't look their age:

    P. Diddy, Diddy, Puffy or whatever he's calling himself these days- 43

    And men don't botox.....

Of course they do, increasingly so. I know a male MD who injects his wife and himself (ew). He says men are coming in more and more often for Botox. Also this : http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1871910,00.html

Has anyone considered the possibility that these old, young looking rappers also dye their hair, which could explain why there's no trace of grey in their hair.

So... can you define me which jobs are hard and which are not and which are just crappy jobs? I actually would like to see the list. Does a bomb squad worker who defuses bombs has a hard job or is it just crappy? The guy who have to write 18,000 lines of code from scratch within a month has a hard job or the guy who works at GM and who's only job is to tight a nut.

I prefer the old school rap from the 80s and 90s. The stuff coming out today is crap. These rappers of today are only in it for the money. That's not to say the old school didn't do it for the money. They did, but at least they also focused on quality and content, unlike today's so called rappers who can only rap about how much money they make or how many cars they have. Nas had a point when he said Hip Hop is dead.
