Peanut Butter M&Ms in the UK

I work for a US company, and when a US colleague returns to the States, they always bring back family sized bags of peanut butter M&Ms which are very popular.
You cannot buy this flavour of M&Ms in the UK, which surprises me as they are easily the best flavour. Someone has suggested that the reason they are not on sale in the UK is because there is an ingredient which is illegal in the UK but not the USA.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

You can get them in the UK but from specialist american stores at a very inflated price. Have a google and you will find some shops, or there is always good ole Amazon0

There's actually a petition I saw to bring them to the UK. From what I researched, it seemed like they weren't in the UK because Mars didn't think they'd be successful in the market, which is honestly dumb. Who doesn't like peanut butter M&M's?0

Me, I don't like them, I don't like peanut butter at all, give me nutella any day I only saw them when I was looking at american stores for Marshmallow Fluff, though that is now in Sainsbury which will save a fortune should I need to buy it again0 -

If you're not a peanut butter lover, I can totally understand. For those that like peanut butter, though, the m&m's are heavenly.
I loooooove marshmallow fluff. I will eat that stuff out of a jar if I get my hands on it. I also love nutella for the same reasons. I don't think I've ever spread either of those condiments on anything. xD0 -
they sell them in those old fashioned sweet shops I think they are caled Mrs Simms, also almond ones and mint & coconut (I was drooling over them last week!!)0

oh wow i love peanut butter M&Ms, you can buy them in the UK. They cost a ridiculous amount because they have to be imported. Specialist sweet shops sell them, I found a shop in Bluewater which sells them. It also sells marshmallow fluff and white chocolate reese peanut butter cups! yummmmm
Bad me.0 -

You can also get a load of American products from Tesco ! well at least in Glasgow0

Pssssst!
You lookin' for candy?
Follow me. I know a guy. No questions, just hand over the cash. He's got the good stuff. None of that reduced sugar garbage. Just pure and uncut white stuff baby.0 -
I really want to try red velvet cake as the yanks are always banging on about how good it is. Why don't we have it in the UK? The only place I've seen it sold is in Harrods, or those awful Betty Crocker packet cake mixes.
I suppose I could find a recipe but I just can't be bothered, lol!0 -
I've seen them in Selfridges!0

I almost have to close my eyes when I walk past that place!0 -
They have Reeces Pieces though.
And they're better anyway.0 -

Isn't it just chocolate cake with red food dye in?
And peanut butter is not a popular flavour in our sweets in the UK, so I think they don't think they will sell so well. Of course, I love anything with peanut butter so I would disagree!
I just wish Reese's had UK standards of chocolate on them, we can get their stuff easily now but the chocolate has too little cocoa and too much sugar for me. Blech. Ruins what would be awesome sweets.0 -
We have a couple of bags of PB M&M's in the snack bin at work. I've had my eye on them for a couple days, but have been resisting the urg....and then as I'm sitting at my desk, I come across this post!
They seriously are the best flavor. Wish I had more insight for you! Maybe try Amazon?0 -
I swear I've seen them in tesco and sainsburys! The amount of times I've avoided buying them (too good!!). I think more US products are making there way over here, like the cookie butter/lotus spread & fruit loops!0

Interestingly, when I was over in Europe I noticed that peanut butter in general isn't a big thing like it is in the US... it seems to be replaced with hazelnut products like Nutella... I'm not sure why, though; seems weird to me. While I was in Spain a small jar of JIF peanut butter (in a specialty store) would've cost me 12 euros O.O but Nutella and a billion off-brands of it are EVERYWHERE.
Any explanations? Anyone?0 -
I am also fascinated by red velvet cake! I desperately want to try some! I bumped into a lady with a shop in Brixton who makes wedding cakes and she said that she is getting more and more orders for red velvet cake in the UK.
I was so intrigued that I looked up the recipe, it looks like chocolate cake with red food colouring and some recipes also have a mug of coffee added into the mix. I can't bake a cake though because... well, I will end up eating it all. The entire cake.0 -

Loved that as a kid! Still do!0 -
Anyone tried the almond M&M's? do they taste like marzipan? are they worth paying £1.80 for a small bag?0

Peanut butter just isn't a "thing" like it is in the US. Kids don't grow up eating PB&J. I don't think you can even get grape jelly here (although Jelly is a completely different thing here). Daughter and I were in London last month and saw Reeces Peanut butter cups for the first time since coming here...I bought her one, but resisted for myself.
As for a Fluffernutter (Fluff and PB) I grew up on them. They originated in the New England area because Fluff is made in Massachusetts. There was a time when you could barely get it outside of the NE area. My mom used to ship me some down when I was living in Mississippi.0 -
You can get Reeces peices in Sainsburys and also in our university shop. I think they are absoultly awesome as I don't eat chocolate. I haven't had any since I started trying to loose wieght, though I have had plenty peanut butter.
Never tried peanut butter M&Ms.0
