Can A Casino Buffet be 9500 Calories

Logging a splurge like I did tonite , going back over and over, fried seafood, prime rib, steak, corn on the cob's, potatoe's, rice, crab, Mussels , salmon, fruit. And dessert's .
Could this be 9500 calories? I think easily and thus logged it so, could I be way off?

word. this. but it is totally possible, with everything they fry the food in, added butters and oils and sugars. as long as you don't eat like that daily, i wouldnt even worry about it0 -
It all depends on how much you ate...I log everything, even bad days, otherwise, it is toooooo easy to forget!0

honestly...I wouldn't be surprised if it is accurate... it seems crazy when I first think about it but when I stop and think about when I eat out how quick those calories can add up....I can imagine at a buffet it'd be easy to get to 9500 without realizing it0

can it be 9500? Easily. A typical buffet at an indian restaurant is about 4,000 calories for me so all the buttery and fatty steak and shrimps etc can easily be 9500 cals at a casino.
But... honestly, why does it matter? Just log 9500 and call it a day. You're not going to work it out. You're not going to try and budget those in your days. At least I wouldn't. So just log the 9500 and go into the food coma you know you want!0 -
Probably easy enough to do and probably many of us have done it. Log it, remember it and move on.

I do my best to log bad days so that I can look back at them and ask myself if it is worth doing this very often.. Nothing wrong with an occasional splurge...We need them to keep our motivation up!!0

I know I'll get flamed for this seeing as it will come across as judgemental.
The mind boggles at the sheer amount of food consumed here and the fairly nonchalant replies.
I'll start on a tangent - I'm obviously here because I've overeaten a fair bit in my time, and I have had issues with accepting my body as it is, but more recently I have had increasing uneasiness about the way we eat and use resources, in a world where there is STILL so much starvation.
I grew up poor in a developing country and I spent most of my teenage years hungry and severely underweight. Probably why I packed on loads of weight when I emigrated. I used to think I hard earned the right to eat whatever crap I wanted, and I've done my fair share of bingeing once I ventured into diet land. However in the last few weeks I've begun to feel seriously disturbed at how much rubbish we overeat. The feelings of guilt I get now after overeating are less 'oh no I'll get fat' and more 'what gives me the right to consume so much?'
Yes we are lucky (and in some ways unlucky) to have so much access to good food etc; and everyone deserves a blowout every now and again but I wonder if people don't sit back and consider the difference between enjoying a good meal with loved ones just because you can (forget the calorie count) and stuffing your face to the point where you must have felt sick.
Actually my issue is less with the OP who ate 9500 or whatever calories but with all the replies going yeah, yeah whatever about it and shrugging it off as normal. I struggle to see how someone can eat close 10 000 calories without your body telling you that this is far too much and feeling extremely unwell unless you've adapted your stomach size to this sort of overeating which simply illustrates my overall point.
(By the way this post is not relevant to those who may have eating disorders as that's a different kettle of fish and one I'm not qualified to comment on).0 -

I'd log it and stay within goal for a very long time. Yes, it is possible to eat that much at a buffet. Fats have 9 calories per gram vs protein and carbohydrates at 3 per gram. A boiled shrimp for example is 10 or so calories vs 75 for a fried one. Good luck with your weight loss journey.0

Oh I believe it. I would love to sample everything there. I avoided buffets for the past couple of months just because of what you described as sounding like an overeater's paradise. I would have had the buffet, but stuck to protein and roasted veggies, skipped the mashed potatoes, breads and desserts and lost my money in the casino. I would have logged my food anyway because I always do even if I go over, just to remind myself of what "normal" is and put me back in touch with reality.0

Thiis was an all out binge, for no reason other than I could and was in the right place at the right time.
I been avoiding the truckstop buffets, yet still put pounds on since returning to the truck a few months ago.
I though I was doing good and not going to go back up, but did, almost 15lbs , the buffet binge aside,.
I also think my loggin is off, things like my calories with my coffee in the morning, 1-3 cups, 24oz's but 1-3 fingers worth of french allia cream in each cup, this I still have not measured correctly, but was told how I might be able to do, and will do so very soon. I guess the calories are measured in tablespoons, not fingers,
Like today before I leave I will attend the Mothers Day Brunch, (HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL MOTHERS), so unsure how much I will do today, but this time little small portions and no stuffing my face this time, just precise portions of this and that.

The way to handle buffets is to eat less of each thing. If you want to have steak and mussels etc, you can't have a full plate of each thing or you definitely will easily consume 1000s of calories.

it's not judgmental, it's reality. what's the point of ignoring reality? the OP should probably eat a few hundred cal less per day this week to make up for it, unless she's ok with a couple pound gain.
what's the point in sugar coating? maybe if she realizes what this does to her body, she won't do it again. a splurge is one thing, almost 10,000 calories is something else entirely.0 -
I actually think it is unlikely that you broke 9500 calories. That would be the equivalent of:
- an entire 14" pepperoni pizza
- 3 triple baconators
- 12 oz prime rib
- large fries
I'm guessing that it is possible but I doubt you would actually be able to eat it in one sitting.0 -

I'm so surprised at all of the answers saying that this is "probably right". I had no idea a buffet lunch could knock up that many calories. Surely it can't be right?0

That aside, you probably did eat a **** ton of calories. If I were you, I would be working out more this week and not allowing myself to go over my deficit for the week, just be a little stricter.0 -
We went away this weekend for an overnight trip to a casino resort and we ate at the buffet. I totally didn't log it but now I will recount everything I ate.
1 baked potato with butter, sour cream and cheese
1 plate with green beans, broccoli, mashed sweet potatoes, ceviche, macaroni and cheese, 1 dinner roll, crab salad, saffron rice.
2nd plate with 1 slice of cheese pizza, more mashed sweet potatoes, more saffron rice and another roll.
Dessert: 2 bowls of chocolate ice cream (not huge bowls) sprinkled with M&M's, a few white chocolate dipped pineapple chunks, 1 chocolate brownie, 1 vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting.
I feel like that could easily have been upwards of 9,000 calories.0 -
