Cardio...how important?

My husband insists that to lose weight I should focus more on cardio. Is this true? I feel like I get better results from weight training but after a week of hitting it really hard with both cardio and strength training and not seeing the scale move at all is very discouraging. I'm willing to try any exercise at this point. TIA!

    IN before cardio bashing.

I think both are important and would incorporate both weights and cardio into your routine.

But I mean, if you're in a caloric deficit, you should be losing weight. I can't see your diary so... Maybe re-evaluate your diet?

I agree - both for max results - heavy lifting and HIIT

if your goal is to just lose weight you dont even need to exercise...just count calories and eat at a deficit.

Cardio's going to help you burn fat, but the more muscle mass that you build up with weight training, the faster your body is able to metabolize and burn calories. (Appx. 50 more calories per day for one extra pound of muscle weight.) The way I look at it, gain three pounds of muscle, that's an extra beer a day! Woo-hoo!

That is to say both cardio and weight training are important.

    ^ This.

Cardio is good for heart health.

Weight lifting while eating at a deficit will help you keep your muscle mass. It will also make you stronger and helps to reduce BF%. Lower BF% will make you smaller although not necessarily lose a lot of weight. Take measurements.

    I think both are essential.
