Is it possible???

Hello All!

I have a question about my weight loss goal. I am hoping to lose 15 pounds in 7 weeks. (originally 18 pounds in 8 weeks, but I am down 3) I am 5'1' and 147 pounds. I am actively training for a 10k, so running about 4-5 times a week. I also do squats (with weights) and push ups every morning. My diet consists of mostly fruits and vegetables. I have cut out *almost* all refined sugar, but I do get a lot of sugar from the fruit. I started drinking ONLY water last week. (have a pretty bad addiction to Pepsi) I am feeling good, but was wondering if it seems possible to hit my goal in 7 weeks. It seems like a lot of weight to lose (the right way) in a short period of time. What are your thoughts about this, and do any of you have experience with this???

Thanks in advance,
Corrie

If you loose 2lb's a week for 7 weeks thats 14lb's I think thats pretty fair, You probably would have to eat a lot cleaner though. I'm sure you can do it.

15 pounds in 7 weeks is about 2 pounds a week. Yes that is definitely possible, and yes it is healthy for you.

Just keep doing cardio and strength training. You may gain muscle, so you may not lose all that weight, but you will lose the inches and have the appearance you are hoping for.

Actually, that is only about 2.5 lbs a week, so it's not impossible nor totally unhealthy. Recommended weight loss is usually 1 to 2 lbs per week. I don't see why you couldn't come pretty close and it still be healthy.

At 147 pounds I wouldn't get my hopes up for that speed of weight loss.

^ This. If you had 100 lbs to lose, then sure. But at your current weight it's probably really pushing it.

I think you need to take into consideration her height, too.

I think I agree here - if you were much heavier it would be easy but the closer you get to your goal weight, the less you lose per week. But, eat as healthy as you can, lots of vegies and protein, exercise and you'll look and feel great, even if you don't hit a specific weight goal. You're already on track with what you're doing - just keep it up!

I might be possible, but you will find that the closer you are to your goal weight, the slower it's going to come off.

Plus you're running quite a bit. At a certain point, you're going to need to fuel those runs and will need to eat more. That will also slow down your weight loss.

I run 25-30 miles a week and definitely need extra calories to keep up those distances. You can still have a deficit, but maybe not the 7000 calories a week required to lose 2 pounds.

    Good luck.

It is possible, and I don't believe it would be too detrimental healthwise. Two pounds a week would be 14. I lost my first 15 pounds in a month time (oh no, the horrors) but *without* adjusting my diet (I am a picky eater, and wasn't really an over eater to begin with) and just exercising a lot more, and I am in constant communication with my doctor throughout my process and he is super supportive. I have faith that you can do it.

My cardiologist told me to get the weight loss moving to cut out all fruit, sugar, carbs and eat chicken, fish and vegetables. He said the weight would fall off. I haven't been able to cut out all the fruit, but trying. You do need protein for your muscles, so I suggest adding in lean protein and getting rid of anything that spikes insulin. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses! I do eat about 85%-90% clean, so I am just going to keep it up and see what happens. I usually do not use the scale to measure my health, but I need to have a goal by June 24, so I thought it was a way to get myself motivated. I figured 132 would put me in the healthy instead of overweight category, according to my BMI, so that is something to strive for. Although I do not put much thought into the BMI calculator due to different body types. Just wondering!! Again, thanks for everyone that responded. I am really excited to keep up my healthy lifestyle and hopefully loose a little weight along the way
