So I am a big fan of oatmeal, but OMG the carbs!!! So I was trying to figure out a replacement and suddenly thought..."Why not Cauliflower?!"
I steamed a head of cauliflower in the microwave for 8 minutes, then pureed in a food processor. Added a bit of milk (fat free), cinnamom, and brown sugar, let it sit in the fridge overnight, and voila!! Tastes exactly like oatmeal!!
Pics to follow!
That is living on the edge!0 -
In the realm of food porn, 'cauliflower oatmeal' sounds like a cold shower.0

I think it sounds great! I don't know why some people are giving you a hard time. I'm going to try using cauliflower as a filler for some stuff. Cool idea0

Ok, I am just gonna say it - that sounds repulsive - but you get points for being creative
No need to be rude. Cauliflower has a natural sweetness that can be enhanced by adding brown sugar and cinnamon. Eating low carb is tough, but worth it.
Not to be rude, but.......Um, HELLO!!! Brown sugar is a CARB! You should know that by now. I NEVER use brown sugar on MY cauliflower oatmeal. Duh. :noway:
Um, sugar is not a carb, it is a sugar. Check your Nutrition facts. It has Carbs listed THEN sugar. Seperately.
I suggest you take a look at the wikipedia page for sugar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar). It is most definitely a carb.

Oh, dear God! Thank you so much!
Now I have a healthy alternative to that horribly unhealthy oatmeal. Do you think you could figure out a way to make fruit and chicken out of cauliflower, too?
Well, if you are what you eat then just feed the chicken cauliflower and BAM! It shall be one! I am at a loss for the fruit tho...0 -
I love cauliflower but this is where I draw the line:) Would not eat the cauliflower "oatmeal"......yuck!!
p.s. I creeped (< not really a word) your dairy to see if you actually ate this LOL:)0 -
Cauliflower is full of carbs, anyhoot.
I make my oatmeal from pebbles. Because Chuck Norris.
Sounds like it'd be good for digestion but how long do you have to simmer before they get tender?
Me so hungry. Me simmer you long time.

I agree. Some of us have medical conditions. And some of us just can't eat carbs like oatmeal. I will never understand why people have to be so damn rude around here.
Then, there are folks who love alternative recipes for their fruits and vegetables because they have a hard time eating them.0 -
OP, I am now totally grossed out. I like cauliflower, but not enough to put sugar on or in it.0
-
I want this thread in my feed to keep my appetite in check in case I ever get the temptation to eat after 6 pm (cuz everyone knows that turns muscle into fat).0

cauliflower is nothing but Cabbage with a college education....0 -
No way. Cauliflower is only a few centuries old. Our digestive tracts haven't evolved well enough to process it. We've been drinking milk, and eating grain longer and we still haven't evolved well enough to digest those. Learn your science son!
***Disclaimer: Nah. I'm just playin. This sounds delicious.
***Double Disclaimer: While I am just playin, this mess sounds nasty. Good luck on your journey, hippy.
ETA: Nah I'm just plain. Despite it not being a real flower and looking like a brain, I like cauliflower.
OMG- SO much ROFL on this side of my desk :laugh:0 -

I'm glad that some people support the Cauliflower Revolution.0

If you feed the cauliflower AND the fruit to the chicken, than all you have to eat is the chicken, and chickens are very low-carb, so WIN!0 -
I killed the other Cauliflower thread with this... Let's see if I can do it again!
